Aptamer-functionalized magnetic graphene oxide for high-efficiency magnetic solid phase extraction of six aflatoxins from food matrices.

This study reports the synthesis of a novel aptamer-functionalized magnetic graphene oxide adsorbent (AP/MGO) via a facile method for the efficient enrichment of six aflatoxins (AFs), which are highly toxic contaminants posing a significant threat to food safety and public health. This composite material synergistically integrates the high specific surface area and mass transfer properties of MGO with the molecular specificity of aptamers, enabling rapid magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) for the selective isolation of target analytes from food matrices. This design seamlessly facilitates

Capillary Force-Driven Capture of Magnetic Nanoparticles in Calcium Phosphate Hollow-Tube Whisker Scaffolds for Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head.

Excessive glucocorticoid use disrupts osteogenesis and angiogenesis in the femoral head, leading to steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SONFH), which is a significant clinical challenge. This study introduces a magnetically responsive biphasic calcium phosphate (HBCP/Fe3O4) scaffold featuring a nanoparticle-embedded hollow-tube whisker structure. The scaffold was fabricated through an in situ growth process to generate hollow-tube whiskers, followed by a capillary trapping technique that allowed the hollow-tube whiskers to capture Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs), achieving uniform and

Construction of colorimetric-fluorescent dual-signal aptamer-based assay using COF-Au nanozyme and magnetic nanoparticle-based CdTe quantum dots for sensitive zearalenone determination.

A dual-signal aptamer-based assay utilizing colorimetric and fluorescence techniques was developed for the determination of zearalenone (ZEN). The CdTe quantum dots, serving as the fluorescent signal source, were surface-modified onto Fe3O4@SiO2 and subsequently functionalized with the aptamer. The COF-Au was modified with complementary chain, which possessed peroxide (POD)-like enzyme properties, and could catalyze the peroxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to ox TMB, resulting in the generation of colorimetric signals. The two parts were merged based on the principle of base co

Cancer remains one of the world's most devastating diseases and is responsible for more than 20% of all deaths. It is defined as uncontrolled proliferation of cells and spreads rapidly to healthy tissue. Controlled drug delivery systems offers great opportunities for the development of new non-invasive strategies for the treatment of cancers. The main advantage of these systems is their capacity to accumulate in tumors via enhanced permeability and retention effects. In the present study, an innovative hybrid drug delivery system based on nanocapsules obtained from the interfacial condensation

Quantitative Drug Release Monitoring in Tumors of Living Subjects by Magnetic Particle Imaging Nanocomposite.

In vivo drug release monitoring provides accurate and reliable information to guide drug dosing. Image-based strategies for in vivo monitoring are advantageous because they are non-invasive and provide visualization of the spatial distribution of drug, but those imaging modalities in use (e.g., fluorescence imaging (FI) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)) remain inadequate because of the low tissue penetration depth (for FI) or difficulty with quantification of release rate and signal convolution with noise sources (for MRI). Magnetic particle imaging (MPI), employing superparamagnetic nanop

Ultrasensitive electroluminescence biosensor for a breast cancer marker microRNA based on target cyclic regeneration and multi-labeled magnetized nanoparticles.

An electrochemiluminescent (ECL) biosensor is described for the determination of the breast cancer biomarker microRNA. The method is based on the amplification via target cyclic regeneration through a system of hairpin DNA probes, primers, and Klenow fragment of DNA polymerases combined with CdTe quantum dots (QDs) and gold nanoparticles. The assay is performed by exploiting the luminescence properties of CdTe-QDs and K2S2O8 as a co-reactive agent to increase the ECL signal. It was successfully applied to ECL-based detection of a 20-mer microRNA. The sensor has a linear response in the 0.1 fM

Caffeic acid-coated multifunctional magnetic nanoparticles for the treatment and bimodal imaging of tumours.

Accurate theragnosis of tumour is essential for improving the life rate of tumour patients. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) have been used as both diagnostic and therapeutic agents. However, their application is often limited because of a lack of water solubility, lack of cancer treatment efficacy, and ineffective targeting of tumour cells. In this report, a double ligand (caffeic acid-polyethylene glycol-folic acid; FA-PEG-CA, caffeic acid-polyethylene glycol-pheophorbide-a; PheoA-PEG-CA) coated iron oxide nanoparticle has been fabricated that overcomes the limitations of

Biocompatibility of Mn0.4Zn0.6Fe2O4 Magnetic Nanoparticles and Their Thermotherapy on VX2-Carcinoma-Induced Liver Tumors.

Malignant tumors are the most serious threat to human health. Much research has focused on revealing the characteristics of this disease and developing methods of treatment. Because tumor cells are more sensitive to heat than normal cells, thermotherapy for the treatment of tumors has attracted much attention. In this paper, we presented functional Mn-Zn ferrite nanoparticles with the molecular composition of Mn0.4Zn0.6Fe2O4 as the magnetic response material for the thermotherapy. The suggested Mn-Zn ferrite nanoparticles were with a self-regulation temperature of 43 degrees C which was ideal

Long-term effects of magnetically targeted ferumoxide-labeled human neural stem cells in focal cerebral ischemia.

The long-term effect of magnetically targeted neural stem cells in a rat focal cerebral ischemia model was investigated. In middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) stroke model rats, ferumoxide-labeled human neural stem cells (hNSCs) were injected into the tail vein. MCAO rats were divided into three groups: ischemia only (IO), ischemia with NSC injection (IC), and ischemia with NSC injection and the use of magnet targeting (IM). Four weeks after MCAO and 3 weeks posttransplantation, a greater number of hNSCs were found in ischemic lesion sites in IM rat brain compared with IO and IC animals.
