Deferoxamine Accelerates Mandibular Condylar Neck Fracture Early Bone Healing by Promoting Type H Vessel Proliferation.

BACKGROUND: Condylar fractures (CFs) are a common type of maxillofacial trauma, especially in adolescents. Conservative treatment of CF avoids the possible complications of surgical intervention, but prolongs the patient's suffering because of the requirement for extended intermaxillary fixation. Therefore, the development of a new strategy to accelerate the rate of fracture healing to shorten the period of conservative treatment is of great clinical importance. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the potential of deferoxamine (DFO) in promoting the healing process of CF in adolescent mice. METHODS: T

Prognostic implications of a CD8+ TEMRA to CD4+Treg imbalance in mandibular fracture healing: a prospective analysis of immune profiles.

INTRODUCTION: Open reduction and fixation are the standard of care for treating mandibular fractures and usually lead to successful healing. However, complications such as delayed healing, non-union, and infection can compromise patient outcomes and increase healthcare costs. The initial inflammatory response, particularly the response involving specific CD8+ T cell subpopulations, is thought to play a critical role in healing long bone fractures. In this study, we investigated the role of these immune cell profiles in patients with impaired healing of mandibular fractures. MATERIALS AND METH…

Integrative Korean Medicine Treatments for Traumatic Facial Palsy Following Mandibular Fracture: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Prior studies exploring the effectiveness of traditional Korean medicine (TKM) treatment for facial palsy have mainly focused on Bell's palsy, and there are few studies on the effectiveness of TKM treatments for traumatic facial palsy following mandibular fracture. The patient was a 24-year-old Korean man with left-sided facial paralysis following a left mandibular fracture. Surgery was performed for the fracture and the facial palsy was treated using conventional medicine (CM) treatments for approximately 3 months, but there was no improvement observed in the patient's condition. Subsequently

[Topographological-anatomic changes in the structure of temporo-mandibular joint in case of fracture of the mandible condylar process at cervical level].

Pathological changes in soft tissues surrounding the fracture site as well as in the structural elements of temporo-mandibular joint always occured in condylar process fracture with shift at cervical mandibular jaw level. Other changes were also seen in the joint on the opposite normal side. Modelling of condylar process fracture at mandibular cervical level by means of three-dimensional computer model of temporo-mandibular joint contributed to proper understanding of this pathology emergence as well as to prediction and elimination of disorders arising in adjacent to the fracture site tissues

[Treatment of fractures of the mandibular condyle. Experiences at the Department of Oral Medicine and Maxillofacial Surgery at Toulon-La-Seyne/Mer].

The fractures of the gnathic condyle are constantly increasing due to the violent impact on the chine. The functional treatment is essential for good results whereas the restitution of a functional joint, i.e. teeth that engage into one another, is satisfactory for the patient as it can also justify a possible surgical reduction in such cases when significant shifts of fragments resulting from the fractures are present.
