A technique of delayed extensor tendon reconstruction and centralization using a palmaris longus tendon graft is presented. The tendon graft is woven through the base of the proximal phalanx and up and over the reconstructed extensor tendon to simulate the natural sagittal bands. As described, the technique allows gliding of the extensor tendon while maintaining its vitally important central location.

Riders of powered two-wheeled vehicles injured whilst riding their machines were interviewed either at hospital or at home in order to supplement data already held from police records. Of those 70 casualties interviewed, 49 (70%) were not known to the police via their Stats 19 records. Of these 49, 17 (35%) were classified as serious in accordance with Department of Transport criteria. The paper considers the management implications and methodological requirements needed to cope with under-reporting and obtaining supplementary data within an operational setting.

CASE: A 17-year-old man presented with an unstable C5 flexion-compression injury and bilateral comminuted distal radius fractures after a motorcycle collision. Despite standard opioid therapy, he experienced difficulty with pain control during and after treatment. Genetic testing revealed a polymorphism in the cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) gene, resulting in ultrarapid metabolism.

Proximal avulsion rupture of the flexor digitorum longus (FDL) tendon associated with an ankle dislocation is extremely rare. We report a case of a 29 years old patient presenting a severe open ankle dislocation with flexor digitorum longus tendon tear after a motorcycle accident. We performed wound debridement, ankle reduction, tendon repair and stabilization with external fixation. We present a unique case of an open bimalleolar fracture dislocation with ipsilateral Achilles tendon rupture after a motorcycle crash. Few reports about successful forefoot replantation in children have been published. In this article, we present a case of a 3-year-old boy with severe complete amputation of the left forefoot from a crushed and degloved injury in a motorcycle accident. The replantation was successfully performed, even though total ischemia time lasted 8 hours, of which 4 hours was cold ischemia time. Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis is a disease commonly associated with facial trauma, especially in the condylar region. Described as a heterotopic bone growth that causes mouth opening limitation, it may occur in trauma cases misdiagnosed or mistreated. We present the case of a 37-year-old female, with decreased mouth opening after three traumas in the region of the right condyle by a motorcycle accident. We performed custom-made total joint replacement of the TMJ to rehabilitate the patient post arthroplasty. TMJ Concepts® protocol was followed to perform the patient's rehabilitation.

A life-cycle assessment of commuting alternatives is conducted that compares six transportation modes (car, bus, train, subway, motorcycle and bicycle) for eight impact indicators. A 39-year-old man sustained an acute grade III aortic injury resulting in a type B aortic dissection in the setting of severe traumatic brain injury, cervical spine injury and multiple orthopaedic injuries following a motorcycle crash. A 71-year-old man with three patches of discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) confined to the right preauricular region drew our attention because of the unusual linear arrangement of the lesions.
