The effect of medical grade compression garments on the repeated-bout effect in non-resistance-trained men.

NEW FINDINGS: What is the central question of this study? What are the effects of compression garments on recovery from unaccustomed damaging exercise and subsequent protective adaptations? What is the main finding and its importance? Compression did not influence recovery, but was associated with blunted protective adaptations for isokinetic performance, which were completely absent at high velocities. Based on these findings, the use of compression garments for recovery would not be recommended following unaccustomed exercise, particularly if the maintenance of high-velocity performance foll

A daytime 40-min nap opportunity after a simulated late evening soccer match reduces the perception of fatigue and improves 5-m shuttle run performance.

The effect of a 40-min nap opportunity was investigated during the day following a late evening simulated soccer match. Twelve male amateur soccer players (23 ± 3 years; 77.3 ± 5.3 kg; 1.76 ± 0.04 m) performed the Loughborough-intermittent-shuttle test at 21h00 and the following day they completed the sleepiness scale after either a nonap (N0) or 40-min nap (N40) opportunity that began at 14h00. At 17h00, participants performed the 5-m shuttle run test (5mSRT) (6 × 30-s with 35-s in-between; best distance (BD) and total distance (TD) were calculated). After performing the 5mSRT, they provided

[XUE Li-gong's clinical thinking of "unknotting" method with long-round needle in treatment of painful bi syndrome of meridian muscle region].

Professor XUE Li-gong's clinical experiences were summarized in treatment of painful bi syndrome of meridian muscle region with the "unknotting" method of long-round needle. It is believed that painful bi syndrome of meridian muscle region is related chiefly with the invasion of wind, cold and damp pathogens, exertion and traumatic injury. These pathogenic factors induce the "transverse-collateral" entrapment in the local and result in refractory painful bi syndrome of meridian muscle region. The "unknotting" method is adopted with long-round needle, which can either separate bluntly the knott
