Secondary central nervous system lymphoma (SCNSL) in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL): Characteristics and risk factors in a Danish nationwide population-based study.

Secondary central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma (SCNSL) in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is associated with dismal outcomes, and risk factors are not well documented. This population-based study reports the incidence of SCNSL, risk factors and survival. All patients diagnosed with MCL in Denmark in 2010-2022 without confirmed CNS involvement at diagnosis were included. Data were retrieved from the Danish National Lymphoma Registry and medical records. In total, 873 patients (median age 70 years) were included. The 10-year cumulative incidence of SCNSL was 3.8% (95% confidence interval [CI] 2.4-5.

Integrated Population Exposure-Response of Dolutegravir in HIV-1 Supports Bridging of Clinical Response Influenced by Relevant Intrinsic and Extrinsic Patient Characteristics.

Dolutegravir (DTG) is a human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) integrase strand transfer inhibitor indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and pediatric subjects aged at least 4 weeks. The present work aimed to characterize the viral response based on a pooled analysis of exposure-response (E-R) from five studies in treatment-experienced and integrase-resistant (INI-r) patients infected with HIV-1. Importantly, model-based simulations of the E-R relationships with DTG provided insight into the clinical relevance of known int

Characteristics differ based on usual cigar-type use among U.S. adults: Analysis from the tobacco use supplement to the current population survey.

The tobacco products landscape is continually shifting, and there are concerns about the increased popularity of non-cigarette tobacco products, including cigars. This study examines characteristics associated with usual cigar-type use. Data are from the 2018-19 Tobacco Use Supplement to the Current Population Survey. Multinomial logistic regression was used to assess the association between sociodemographic characteristics and cigar-type use (i.e., large cigars, cigarillos, and little filtered cigars). Analyses also examined factors relative to large cigar use and further stratified by sex. O

Characteristics Associated with Tumor Development in Individuals Diagnosed with Beckwith-Wiedemann Spectrum: Novel Tumor-(epi)Genotype-Phenotype Associations in the BWSp Population.

Beckwith-Wiedemann Spectrum (BWSp) is the most common epigenetic childhood cancer predisposition disorder. BWSp is caused by (epi)genetic changes affecting the BWS critical region on chromosome 11p15. Clinically, BWSp represents complex molecular and phenotypic heterogeneity resulting in a range of presentations from Classic BWS to milder features. The previously reported tumor risk based on Classic BWS cohorts is 8-10% and routine tumor screening has been recommended. This work investigated the tumor risk and correlation with phenotype within a cohort of patients from Classic BWS to BWSp usin

Characteristics of boys with the so-called true undescended testis diagnosed at the third postnatal month--a population-based case-control study.

OBJECTIVE: Undescended testis (cryptorchidism) is a common congenital abnormality of male genital organs diagnosed at birth followed with frequent postnatal descensus. However, the so-called isolated true undescended testis (ITUT) diagnosed at the third postnatal month seems to be an independent defect-entity, and this hypothesis was planned to confirm or reject in the study. METHOD: The evaluation of birth outcomes and maternal socio-demographic data of cases with ITUT in the population-based large dataset of the Hungarian Congenital Abnormality Registry. RESULTS: There was a higher rate of
