A cross-sectional non-interventional survey was carried out in 5 districts of West Bengal and one district of Assam to find out the extent of coverage during IPPI. It was observed that in the recent rounds of IPPI, more than 95% coverage was observed in all the surveyed districts excepting in 24 Parganas South where coverage was around 92%. Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) is a severe, episodic, acute, mucocutaneous hypersensitivity reaction often caused by drugs. We herewith report a case of SJS with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) that did not respond to daily oral prednisolone therapy. When treated with dexamethasone pulse therapy, the response was found to be very good. Therefore, we concluded that dexamethasone pulse therapy can be a good and an effective alternative therapy for treatment of such patients. However, to establish its role, further trials in more patients are needed.

Ca2+ buffer saturation was proposed as a mechanism of paired pulse facilitation (PPF). However, whether it operates under native conditions remained unclear. Here we show that saturation of the endogenous fast Ca2+ buffer calbindin-D28k (CB) plays a major role in PPF at CB-containing synapses. Paired recordings from synaptically connected interneurons and pyramidal neurons in the mouse neocortex revealed that dialysis increased the amplitude of the first response and decreased PPF. AIMS: To evaluate the efficacy of methylprednisolone pulse therapy compared to placebo in PD patients with NMS.

Analysis of the results raised in the Framingham and the MRFIT study have clearly shown that increased pulse pressure is an independent cardiovascular risk factor. As the use of newer antifungal agents becomes more widespread, safety issues surrounding their use have become more important. To date, the safety profile of itraconazole has been well defined by its worldwide use in 50 million patients over the past 13 years. Data from clinical practice and clinical trials indicate that the 1-week pulse regimen of itraconazole is well tolerated and associated with a favourable safety profile. Adverse events are generally mild and transient. Furthermore, a dose increase to 400 mg in the pulse regimen has had no adverse impact on safety.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the better regimen of combined cyclophosphamide pulse therapy with corticosteroids in the treatment of Pemphigus.
METHODS: Intravenous cyclophosphamide was given weekly in a dosage of 600 mg to those Pemphigus patients whose conditions couldn't be improved by corticosteroids (oral prednisone 1.2-1.5 mg/kg/d) alone.

Early chemical pneumonitis was complicated by life-threatening, diffuse interstitial lung consolidation with pneumatoceles.
