PURPOSE: To evaluate the repeatability of aphakic intraoperative wavefront aberrometry and compare it with preoperative and postoperative aberrometry.

The review summarizes the results of surgical treatment of cataracts in patients with keratoconus. The major challenges of phacosurgery in keratoconus are associated with intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation, choice of the most appropriate IOL model and additional interventions required to stabilize keratectasia and reduce corneal irregularity.

The relationship between the optical properties of the eye in the periphery and myopia development is still under debate. To further clarify this issue, we provide here baseline data of two-dimensional peripheral optics results in a group of emmetropic Chinese children. METHODS: Reflecting elements partition a catadioptric system into subsystems of four distinct types: (unreversed) dioptric subsystems, anterior catoptric subsystems, reversed dioptric subsystems, and posterior catoptric systems. We analyzed the structural and functional relationship between lens sutures and lens optical quality (focal length variability) by correlative scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and laser scan analysis. Unilateral arrested myopia preceded other signs of progressive facial hemiatrophy in a 13-year-old girl. Facial signs including soft tissue atrophy, enophthalmos, pupillary dialation with decreased pupillary reaction, and extraocular muscle involvement later appeared on the same side as the eye with the arrested myopia.
