Assisted reproductive technology has helped many childless couples. It has also raised questions about how appropriate the technology might be in different situations. How we understand parenthood is crucial in taking a stand on such scientific intervention. It is suggested that physicians should decide on offering artificial insemination, surrogacy and in-vitro fertilisation only after considering if the child will have good parents and if there will be legal complications from the use of the technology.

It is studied the association between thrombophilia and failure to achieve pregnancy after IVF. The study group included 55 patients aged 24-45 years, with history of infertility I and II (unexplained genesis). 38 women were with a history of IVF failures and 17 -- without such history. OBJECTIVE: To be able to predict the success of ART reliable tests for determining the quality of the oocytes are necessary. Apart from a vague morphologic assessment via microscopy a direct analysis of the oocyte quality is not possible. Because of the very close relation between the oocyte and the cumulus cells the analysis of the cumulus cells might give sufficient information on the oocyte quality.
