A 34 year old corpsman developed acute Q fever upon return from Iraq. Subsequent testing demonstrated trace mitral regurgitation and widely discrepant serologic testing results between commercial and reference laboratories. An outbreak of domestic trichinosis occurred in an Italian family living in Montreal. All patients had a fever, facial edema and extreme eosinophilia, and results of serologic tests were positive. A case of Reiter disease in a HLA B27 positive man with urethritis followed by polyarthritis is reported. During the disease, serologic conversion for Yersinia enterocolitica type 9 was detected as well as positive serologic tests for Shigella flexneri and Chlamydia. The features of reactive arthritis related to Yersinia and the etiologies of Reiter disease are recalled.

BACKGROUND CONTEXT: Spinal neurocysticercosis (NCC) is a very rare clinical entity. Signs and symptoms may include myelopathy, radiculopathy, or cauda equina syndrome, depending on location of the cyst, and it may mimic more common neuropathology.
