BACKGROUND: Adenocarcinoma derived from umbilicus is very rare. Most adenocarcinomas in umbilicus are secondary events. Carcinoma derived from sweat glands is sporadic, highly radioresistant and has a clinical appearance that is difficult to predict.

We report on an atypical clinical course of a patient with the very rare diagnosis of an apocrine sweat gland carcinoma with lymphatic metastasis, a single metachronous distant metastasis and a now reached survival time of more than 4 years and give a review about the current literature. Only a very small number of cases have been described. The recommendations for diagnostics and treatment of this tumor, therefore, are not based on prospective randomized studies but upon case reports and on new immunohistochemical and genetic markers.

Eccrine carcinoma is an extremely rare malignant skin cancer arising from eccrine sweat glands with a high metastatic potential. It mainly occurs in the elderly, with equal incidence in both sexes. BACKGROUND: To facilitate the monitoring of drug abuse by patients, a method was developed and validated for fast and highly selective screening for amphetamine, methamphetamine, 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine, methylenedioxyamphetamine, methylenedioxyethylamphetamine, methylphenidate, cocaine, benzoylecgonine, morphine, codeine, heroin, 6-monoacteylmorphine, methadone, 2-ethylidene-1,5-dimethyl-3,3-diphenylpyrrolidine, nicotine, and cotinine in PharmCheck sweat patches. Endocrine mucin-producing sweat gland carcinoma (EMPSGC) is an underrecognized low-grade carcinoma with predilection to the eyelid. Only 4 cases of this entity have been described in the literature. Here, we describe 12 cases of EMPSGC. The lesions were twice as frequent in females than males with an average age of 70 years (range, 48-84 years). A solitary patient with symptoms similar to those of shortlasting unilateral neuralgiform conjunctival injection and tearing (SUNCT) was first mentioned in 1978. The term SUNCT was first used in 1991. SUNCT is an acronym; the "S" signifies "Shortlasting"; the "U" symbolizes "Unilateral"; "N" stands for "Neuralgiform"; the "C" for "Conjunctival injection"; and "T" for "Tearing." The term short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks with cranial autonomic symptoms were marketed in 2004.
