This open-label, randomized study compared the pharmacokinetics of ethinylestradiol (EE) from the contraceptive vaginal ring NuvaRing (15 microg EE/day), the transdermal patch (20 microg EE/day) and a combined oral contraceptive (COC) containing 30 microg EE. Both topical nitrogen mustard and psoralen photochemotherapy may induce benign and malignant alterations in the skin. We describe the explosive appearance of multiple epidermal cysts and squamous cell carcinomas in a patient whose cutaneous T-cell lymphoma was treated sequentially with these two types of therapy. This is the first report of both processes in the same patient with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. It strongly supports the concept of lesion induction, while raising the question of an additive or even synergistic effect of these types of therapy.

The administration of high doses of sodium penthiobarbital in intensive resuscitation sometimes results in venous and cutaneous lesions in the form of phlebitis associated with major necrosis. Histological analysis demonstrates that these are essentially intimal lesions and the authors suggest various hypotheses to explain the origin of such clinical signs.

CASE: We report the case of a previously healthy 51-year-old man who presented to our hospital after worsening clinical appearance of his left ring finger, despite antibiotics and previous surgical drainage for suspected abscess at an outside institution 3 weeks ago.
