Ionic Landscape Engineering via Perovskite Quantum Dots for Reliable and Energy-Efficient Perovskite Memristors.

The rapid growth of data-intensive artificial intelligence workloads has exposed data movement in conventional von Neumann architectures as a critical bottleneck to both enhanced energy efficiency and reduced latency. Among the materials investigated for resistive random-access memory, halide perovskites have garnered extensive attention owing to their tunable electronic properties and low-power operation, making them suitable for high-density memory applications. Although all-inorganic CsPbI3 offers high thermal stability, its reliability is compromised by mobile iodide vacancies causing stoc

Nudibranch color diversity shares a common physical basis in guanine photonic structure 'pixels'.

Nudibranchs are well known for their bright and diverse color patterns. This coloration is typically a form of aposematism, warning predators against toxic compounds sequestered from their prey and weaponized as a form of defense. Although many of the hues in nudibranchs were thought to be of pigmentary origin, here we show, using a combination of white light and Raman microspectroscopy, that hierarchically organized micron-scale guanine multilayer structures are responsible for many of these colors. Such architectures are widespread across the dorid and aeolid groups and are responsible for a

Benchmarking large language model-based agent systems for clinical decision tasks.

Agentic artificial intelligence (AI) systems, designed to autonomously reason, plan, and invoke tools, have shown promise in healthcare, yet systematic benchmarking of their real-world performance remains limited. In this study, we evaluate two such systems: the open-source OpenManus, built on Meta's Llama-4 and extended with medically customized agents; and Manus, a proprietary agent system employing a multistep planner-executor-verifier architecture. Both systems were assessed across three benchmark families: AgentClinic, a stepwise dialog-based diagnostic simulation; MedAgentsBench, a knowl

Reprogramming ThDP Enzymes for Z-Alkenes: Overriding Thermodynamic Preference via Noncovalent Controls.

Most conventional alkene synthesis reactions (e.g., elimination et al.) inherently favor the formation of thermodynamically more stable E-isomers, posing a long-standing challenge for direct access to Z-alkenes. Here, we report the reprogramming of a thiamine diphosphate (ThDP)-dependent enzyme to catalyze a formal dehalogenative elimination that overrides this intrinsic thermodynamic bias, enabling the direct and selective synthesis of Z-α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids. In contrast to classical approaches that rely on substrate control, directing groups, or complex ligand architectures, our

Biomedical Materials and Fabrication Methods for Construction of In Vitro Neurovascular Unit Models.

In vitro neurovascular unit (NVU) models are essential for reproducing blood-brain barrier (BBB) transport and neurovascular cell interactions. However, the literature remains fragmented: biomaterial chemistry, fabrication parameters and organ-on-a-chip architecture are commonly evaluated in isolation, while inconsistent reporting of matrix properties, processing history, cell source, flow and barrier readouts prevents head-to-head comparison and the extraction of transferable design rules. To address this gap, this review integrates biomaterials, manufacturing technologies and organ-on-a-chip

SLATE-PTP: A spine-leaf architecture timestamps and evaluation dataset for IEEE 1588 precision time protocol benchmarking.

This data article describes SLATE-PTP, a high-fidelity IEEE 1588 telemetry dataset captured within a physical two-Spine four-Leaf datacenter fabric engineered with PTP-unaware switches. The data collection architecture isolates network-induced impairments from local oscillator drift. While a GNSS-disciplined Grandmaster clock provided a physical PPS reference to stabilize the hardware clock of the capturing network interface card, the LinuxPTP (ptp4l) daemon operated in a non-adjusting, free-running state. Consequently, the recorded four-way timestamps ( t 1 , t 2 , t 3 , and t 4 ) capture

Sequence Inversion Dictates the Antiproliferative Activity of Bidirectional Tryptophan-Containing Dipeptide Libraries.

Two complementary series of novel tryptophan-derived dipeptides (Trp-X and X-Trp) were designed and synthesized to systematically evaluate how backbone sequence inversion alters chemical accessibility and in vitro antineoplastic profiles against a human solid tumor cell line panel (A549, HeLa, MIA PaCa-2, SW1573, T-47D, and WiDr). Reversing the peptide connectivity revealed prominent sequence-dependent chemical reactivities and biological variations. Steric repulsion at the β-carbon limited basic hydrolysis during X-Trp precursor assembly, whereas the Trp-X series allowed straightforward chemi

Refining Chemical Evolution of Resin Toward High-Performance Hard-Carbon Anodes.

Hard carbon (HC) anodes are pivotal for advancing sodium-ion battery technology, yet their performance is fundamentally limited by the sluggish ion-insertion kinetics into closed pores during the low-voltage plateau. Prevailing improvement approaches, relying on extrinsic templates or graphitic carbon additives, typically compromise structural precision or scalability. Here, we demonstrate a molecular engineering strategy by tailoring the pre-condensation of a resorcinol-formaldehyde resin. This modification simultaneously modulates the evolution of light volatiles and guides the ordered align

A Feature Fusion Attention-Based Deep Learning Algorithm for Mammographic Architectural Distortion Classification.

Architectural Distortion (AD) is a common abnormality in digital mammograms, alongside masses and microcalcifications. Detecting AD in dense breast tissue is particularly challenging due to its heterogeneous asymmetries and subtle presentation. Factors such as location, size, shape, texture, and variability in patterns contribute to reduced sensitivity. To address these challenges, we propose a novel feature fusion-based Vision Transformer (ViT) attention network, combined with VGG-16, to improve accuracy and efficiency in AD detection. Our approach mitigates issues related to texture fixation

Metal-organic framework-based wearable electrochemical glucose sensors for sweat analysis: materials design, sensing mechanisms, and future perspectives.

The global prevalence of diabetes mellitus has intensified the demand for continuous, reliable, and patient-friendly glucose monitoring technologies. Conventional blood-based glucose testing remains invasive and unsuitable for continuous monitoring, motivating extensive research into non-invasive wearable sensing platforms. Sweat has emerged as an attractive biofluid for glucose monitoring due to its accessibility and compatibility with skin-interfaced devices; however, the low glucose concentration, complex matrix, and dynamic secretion rates pose significant analytical challenges. Reheating-Induced Matrix Reorganisation Modulates the In Vitro Digestibility of a Retrograded Normal/High-Amylose Maize Starch Blend.

Reheating alters residual molecular order and matrix architecture in retrograded starch, but these changes do not necessarily produce parallel changes in enzymic digestion. Gels of normal maize starch (NM), high-amylose maize starch (HM), and a 50/50 (w/w) NM/HM blend were stored at 4 °C for 7 d and steam-reheated to core temperatures of 50 or 80 °C. HM was less hydrolysed than NM at either temperature. At 300 min, hydrolysis reached 51.3% and 61.4% for HM at 50 and 80 °C, respectively, versus approximately 81% for NM. DSC and XRD showed that HM-containing gels retained more thermally stable o

Molecular design and delivery of extracellular and membrane protein degradation chimeras.

Extracellular and membrane-associated proteins constitute a substantial therapeutic target space that remains largely inaccessible to intracellular degradation strategies based on the ubiquitin-proteasome system. Membrane and extracellular targeted protein degradation (meTPD) addresses this limitation by coupling target recognition to degradation-competent uptake and intracellular sorting rather than relying on a single receptor or platform. In this Review, we organize meTPD strategies according to their trafficking and degradation routes, including lysosome-targeting receptor-dependent system

Single-cell spatiotemporal dissection of the human maternal-fetal interface.

The human maternal-fetal interface is characterized by mosaic intermingling of maternal and fetal cells1. Yet the underlying cellular, molecular and spatial programmes remain incompletely defined. Here we generate a comprehensive atlas of the human maternal-fetal interface across normal pregnancies from early gestation to term by integrating large-scale paired single-nucleus transcriptomic and chromatin accessibility profiling with submicrometre-resolution spatial transcriptomics and CODEX multiplex protein imaging2, substantially boosting the spatiotemporal resolution of prior research3. Viability of automating the landing error scoring system using inertial measurement units.

The Landing Error Scoring System (LESS) is an assessment tool used for identifying movement patterns linked with non-contact anterior cruciate ligament injuries during a double-leg jump-landing; however, the LESS is scored by experts using 2D video recordings, which limits large-scale screening. This study explores the viability of using inertial measurement unit (IMU) data to automate scoring of 17 LESS items, using conventional machine learning model architecture. Forty healthy participants completed six jumps each, and raw movement data from three IMU sensors placed on the sacrum and medial

Bridging skeletal stem cell diversity and human skeletal modeling.

Skeletal stem cells (SSCs) underlie skeletal development, homeostasis, regeneration, and aging, yet their identities and functions are highly heterogeneous across anatomical sites and life stages. Mouse genetic studies have identified multiple SSC populations-each residing in distinct niches such as the growth plate, periosteum, and bone marrow-and revealed their dynamic regulation across developmental, homeostatic, regenerative, and aging contexts. However, translating these insights to humans remains challenging due to species differences and limited access to physiological human skeletal ti

Self-assembled chemiluminescent nanoprobes based on α,α-dicyanoolefins: leveraging a dioxetane "funnel" for high-contrast inflammation imaging.

Although peroxynitrite (ONOO-) chemiluminescence (CL) imaging offers near-zero background sensitivity for in vivo sensing, developing CL probes remains a formidable challenge due to the limited repertoire of chemiluminescent scaffolds and boronate-related cross-reactivity. Herein, we report the rational design of self-assembled chemiluminescent nanoprobes utilizing an α,α-dicyanoolefin scaffold. The optimal candidate, YMTPT-NPs, spontaneously forms stable nanoparticles in water and achieves orthogonal ONOO- specificity via its C[double bond, length as m-dash]C bond of α,α-dicyanoolefin, elimin

Pediatric physeal repair: from immune-angiogenic-osteogenic coupling to zonal biomimetic scaffolds.

Physeal injury in children can trigger bone bridge formation that arrests growth and leads to limb-length discrepancy, angular deformity, or both. Clinical bar resection with interposition reduces recurrence yet often fails to restore zonal growth-plate function. This mini review synthesizes recent bioengineering strategies that aim to prevent re-bridging while re-establishing a cartilage-permissive niche capable of supporting longitudinal growth. We focus on three platform classes that provide strong leverage for spatiotemporal control. Injectable viscoelastic hydrogels can be tuned in degrad

Human Corneal Stromal Stem Cell Treatment Reduces Established Opacities in Chronic Corneal Scarring.

Corneal fibrosis, clinically referred to as corneal scarring, disrupts the normal architecture and transparency of the cornea and remains a major cause of visual impairment worldwide. Although corneal transplantation can restore vision, its effectiveness is constrained by limited accessibility, donor tissue shortages, and the risk of allograft rejection. Treatments with human corneal stromal stem cells (hCSSCs) have demonstrated scarless healing in preclinical models of acute corneal injury. Here, we report that hCSSCs also modulated pre-existing corneal opacities. We established a reproducibl

scDAU: a disentangled representation learning method for cross-modal translation in single-cell multi-omics data.

MOTIVATION: Cross-modal translation enables reconstruction of missing modalities in single-cell multi-omics data, supporting integrative analyses of cellular heterogeneity and regulatory relationships. However, existing methods often struggle to disentangle shared biological signals from modality-specific variation and to generalize across datasets. RESULTS: We present scDAU, a deep learning framework that combines conditional diffusion-based feature regularization with multi-scale cross-modal translation networks. scDAU employs a feature decoupling strategy to separate shared semantic repres
