This report describes pulmonary cryptococcosis with a large endobronchial cryptococcoma in an 8-year-old Warmblood mare. The mare was presented initially with fever and lethargy, and clinical signs typical of bacterial pneumonia. Markedly elevated serum amyloid A (SAA) concentrations indicated a severe systemic inflammatory response. AIM: to investigate the efficacy of zinc supplementation in chronic prostatitis treatment.
METHODS: present randomized clinical trial was conducted on 120 patients with diagnosis of chronic prostatitis (IIIA NIH) after preliminary evaluation and ruling out other conditions. The study group received oral zinc sulfate 220 mg daily as capsule without any other supplements. The control group received placebo. Subjects were examined for NIH-CPSI scores every 4 weeks for 12 weeks.

A retrospective study of 26 cases of postoperative endophthalmitis occurring after extracapsular cataract extraction and lens implantation was conducted between January 1989 and December 1992. We report a case of brain abscess following the percutaneous treatment for trigeminal neuralgia. This procedure envisages the access with a needle into the middle cranial fossa through the oral cavity. OBJECTIVES: We hypothesized that Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi (S. Typhi) with higher biofilm and capsule production capability are more able to survive continuously in typhoid patients/carriers, with subsequent prolonged shedding in feces.

In order to improve the surveillance of serogroup B and C meningococcal diseases, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) specific for anti-B immunoglobulin M (IgM) and anti-C IgM and IgG antibodies were developed.
