Objective: To analyze the ultrasound diagnosis and differential diagnosis of medium and small choroidal melanomas. Methods: It was a retrospective case series study. Thirty-six cases (36 eyes) with medium or small choroidal melanoma were collected between January 2016 and January 2017 in Beijing Tongren Hospital, including 16 males and 20 females aged (50±12) years old. All tumors' apical heights were within 5 mm and the largest basal diameter was within 15 mm. Sixty-nine cases (69 eyes) with choroidal hemangioma, including 45 males and 24 females aged (45±11) years old, and 16 cases (19 eyes)

PURPOSE: To report the rare occurrence of choroidal melanoma in an African-American albino.
METHODS: A 68-year-old African-American man with oculocutaneous albinism developed an amelanotic choroidal mass in his left eye. A transvitreal fine-needle aspiration biopsy was performed to confirm the diagnosis, and the patient was treated with iodine 125 plaque radiotherapy.
RESULTS: The cytology of the needle biopsy showed spindle cells with nuclear atypia and prominent nucleoli. The cells showed positive immunoreactivity for HMB-45, supporting the diagnosis of choroidal melanoma.

This report concerns a 24-year-old male patient with Down syndrome, complicated by a benign but true neoplastic lesion of a differentiated papilloma of the choroid plexus which simultaneously displayed a dysgenetic character. A review of the literature revealed a lack of single case reports of Down syndrome with brain tumors, which may reflect chance occurrence; however, the brain tumors in Down syndrome patients are characterized by their dysontogenetic or dysgenetic character.

Choroid plexus papillomas are only infrequently located in the third ventricle. Two infants with such lesions are presented and the diagnosis by computed tomography described. The transcallosal approach to the third ventricle was employed in both cases and led to successful excision. This approach is recommended for lesions in the anterior third ventricle in children, and the occurrence of subdural effusions as a complication is pointed out.

Choroid plexus papillomas and mature human choroid plexus were studied by light and electron microscopic techniques. The mature choroid plexus has three types of cells: Type I cells are cuboidal or columnar cells and line the villi; Type II cells are flat cells lining connective tissue adjacent to neural tissue; and Type III cells are flat cells lining crypts in connective tissue. Utilizing a ventricular perfusion technique, the rate of CSF formation was determined in a 2-year-old child before and after removal of a 74 g choroid plexus papilloma from the left lateral ventricle.
