Numerous studies have identified communication skills as being most predictive of long-term school success. A Communication Opportunity Group Scheme (COGS) took place in a primary and secondary school involving 36 students aged 7-15 years. There were 24 subjects in two types of teaching group and 12 controls. Since 1987 when Januszkiewicz and Kieda first described borreliosis, it is commonly recognized as infection of the nervous system in Poland, especially in north-east region. The diagnosis of the disease is mainly based on typical clinical signs, supported by serological testing. In 14 patients with clinical symptoms of neuroborreliosis CT and MR were performed to evaluate CNS changes. MR examinations were abnormal in 36%. Most patients (60%) presented cerebral atrophy. Dysmorphophobia shall be described as an example for a communicative disorder and be deliminated from other syndromes under which it has been subsumed so far. On the background of available literature, the "fear of deformity" is to be elaborated as feeling ashamed of the contemptuous look of another person, whose look has turned into the own view. This results in a discrepancy with the ego and the own self conveyed by others, finally leading to depersonalisation. This basic interpersonal appearance shall be further illustrated by two individual examples.

A rare communication between the right pulmonary artery and the left atrium in a 3.5-year-old girl is described. Cyanosis of a central type and a continuous murmur over the heart were presenting symptoms. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical and radiologic records of 17 patients with proven abdominal abscesses with enteric communication. Computed tomography was able to correctly diagnose an abdominal abscess in only 11 of these 17 patients. The six patients whose abscesses were missed with CT fell into three categories. One hundred and twenty patients who were members of the Nottinghamshire Coeliac Group completed a questionnaire about the occurrence of coeliac disease, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease amongst first-degree relatives.
