Schöpf-Schulz-Passarge syndrome (SSPS) is a rare ectodermal dysplasia characterized by hypodontia, hypotrichosis, nail dystrophy, palmoplantar keratoderma, and periocular and eyelid margin apocrine hidrocystomas. Several other skin tumours have been described in association with this syndrome, in particular, multiple palmoplantar eccrine syringofibroadenoma (ESFA). We report a case of SSPS with diffuse palmoplantar hyperkeratosis, which was shown by histology and immunocytochemistry to be due to ESFA.

The fifteenth known case of GAPO syndrome is presented: a probable autosomal-recessive condition of growth retardation, alopecia, pseudoanodontia (failure of tooth eruption), and optic atrophy. This article contains the clinical report of a 9-year-old girl and a short review of the hitherto-known cases. The syndrome could be attributed to either ectodermal dysplasia or perhaps an accumulation of extracellular connective tissue matrix.

In 1940, Ellis and van Creveld defined a syndrome they referred to as chondro-ectodermal dysplasia. This autosomal recessive condition, now usually referred to as Ellis-van Creveld syndrome (EVC), comprises bilateral postaxial polydactyly, a chondrodysplasia, characterized by shortness of limbs, and ectodermal dysplasia. Congenital heart defects are also common. There are many reports in medical literature describing affected newborns and even, older children. Here, we report the clinical, radiological and histological findings in a 15-week-old affected fetus. The diagnosis of Ellis-van Crevel…

Ectrodactyly, or Split-Hand/Foot Malformation (SHFM), is a congenital condition characterized by the loss of central rays of hands and feet. The p63 and the DLX5;DLX6 transcription factors, expressed in the embryonic limb buds and ectoderm, are disease genes for these conditions. Mutations of p63 also cause the ectodermal dysplasia-ectrodactyly-cleft lip/palate (EEC) syndrome, comprising SHFM. Ectrodactyly is linked to defects of the apical ectodermal ridge (AER) of the developing limb buds. FGF8 is the key signaling molecule in this process, able to direct proximo-distal growth and patterning…

BACKGROUND: Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) with central adrenal insufficiency is a recently defined clinical syndrome caused by mut … her parents.
CONCLUSION: Clinicians should be alert to comorbidities of adrenal insufficiency and ectodermal dysplasia in CVID patients as these might suggest a rare hereditary syndrome caused by NFKB2 mutation.

Special care in dentistry : official publication of the American Association of Hospital Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry for the Handicapped, and the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry2017eng
Schöpf-Schulz-Passarge syndrome (SSPS) is thought to be a rare autosomal recessive condition similar to many other ectodermal dysplasias. Diagnosis is difficult, with many possible differential diagnoses; however, eyelid cysts are a commonly seen feature. This clinical report aims to highlight this and describe the dental features and management of this syndrome, which existing literature has not previously described.

Hair and nail development have many similarities and are likely to share many developmental pathways. This is evident from the ectodermal dysplasias that affect both appendages. Of special interest are syndromic disorders as they show the effects of disturbances in molecular pathways that are essential for normal embryonic development. In this review, recent results from studies of syndrome affecting hair and nail development will be discussed.

BACKGROUND: Cranioectodermal dysplasia (CED) is a rare ciliopathy that causes mortality through its impact on liver and kidney dysfunction. To date, there has only been a single report of a successful kidney-liver transplant in a pediatric patient with CED.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present a pediatric patient who received a sequential liver-kidney transplant due to progressive organ dysfunction caused by CED. At the age of 7, the patient underwent a liver transplant, followed sequentially by a kidney transplant 5 years later. We provide a 3-year follow-up to the kidney transplantation.

Encephalocraniocutaneous lipomatosis (ECCL), also known as Haberland syndrome, is a sporadic tumor predisposition neurocutaneous disorder, included in the oculoectodermal syndrome group of mosaic RASopathies. ECCL primarily affects the skin, central nervous system and eyes. Key diagnostic features include nevus psiloliparus, a hallmark subcutaneous lipomatous hamartoma associated with alopecia, along with subcutaneous lipomas, focal skin aplasia, and patchy alopecia. Neurologically, intracranial lipomas, particularly in the cerebellopontine angle, are prevalent, along with cortical dysplasia,

Epidermiolysis bullosa (EB) is a rare group of genetic disorders, which are characterised by bullae and erosions on skin and mucosa. This case report describes a patient, who was born at full term without any complications. Both crurae were affected by aplasia cutis. Upon birth, the newborn was wrapped in a soft blanket, and prophylactic antibiotic treatment was started along with analgesics. Large bullae were punctured with a sterile needle, and erosions were treated with non-adherent wound dressings and special bandages. Gloves and shoes were custom-made. Autosomal recessive dystrophic EB wa

Aplasia cutis congenita (ACC) is a rare inborn lesion, presenting with absence of skin. The etiology is unknown and is probably not attributable to a single cause but to a combination of genetic factors. Multiple causes have been suggested for ACC: syndromes and teratogens, intrauterine infection--varicella zoster virus, herpes simplex virus--fetal exposure to cocaine, heroin, alcohol, or antithyroid drugs. The most common site is the scalp. We report a case with multiple lesions on the trunk, resembling an instance with ACC group 5. This form of ACC occurs in association with the in utero dea
