The Relative Importance of Education and Criminal Justice Costs and Benefits in Economic Evaluations: A Best-Worst Scaling Experiment.

OBJECTIVES: Mental and behavioural disorders (MBDs) and interventions targeting MBDs lead to costs and cost savings in the healthcare sector, but also in other sectors. The latter are referred to as intersectoral costs and benefits (ICBs). Interventions targeting MBDs often lead to ICBs in the education and criminal justice sectors, yet these are rarely included in economic evaluations. This study aimed to investigate the attitudes held by health economists and health technology assessment experts towards education and criminal justice ICBs in economic evaluations and to quantify the relative

[Psychophysiological state of children in conditions of informatization of their life activity and intensification of education].

The transition to a new stage of the development - the information society is an objective reality and has an influence on all areas of the activity of the society, including the establishment of a child as an object of the hygienic research. In conditions of the general informatization of the society, the appearance of so-called “clip thinking,” explains the maladjustment of educational technologies to mechanisms of children ’ and teenagers ’perception and is confirmed by the growth of the school pathology and the gain in the morbidity rate. In the investigation on the example of the educatio

Integrating Artificial Intelligence with Gamification in Medical Education: A Pedagogically Grounded Framework and Critical Review.

Digital learning technologies have transformed medical education, with artificial intelligence (AI) and gamification emerging as two of the most active areas of innovation. While each has demonstrated value independently, their integration offers distinctive potential to personalise learning, sustain engagement, and produce durable educational outcomes. Yet the convergence remains empirically disjointed and theoretically underdeveloped. This pedagogically grounded critical review synthesises the evidence at the crossroads of AI and gamification in medical and health professional education, dra

Parental and peer influence on STEM career persistence: From higher education to first job.

This article investigates social influences that drive gender-specific differences in the degree of persistence individuals exhibit in regard to pursuing science, mathematics, engineering and technology (STEM), both as a field of study and as an occupation. It covers individuals' careers from entry into higher education to entry into the labor market. Following a life course perspective, I ask the following questions: (1) How stable are preferences regarding STEM subjects and occupations throughout young adulthood? (2) Are significant social ties, such as relations with friends and family memb

Diabetes education in pediatrics: How to survive diabetes.

Diabetes mellitus is the most common abnormal carbohydrate metabolism disorder affecting millions of people worldwide. It is characterized by hyperglycemia as a result of ß-cell destruction or dysfunction by both genetic and environmental factors. Over time chronic hyperglycemia leads to microvascular (i.e., retinopathy, nephropathy and neuropathy) and macrovascular (i.e., ischemic heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, and cerebrovascular disease) complications of diabetes. Diabetes complication trials showed the importance of achieving near-normal glycemic control to prevent and/or redu

Evaluation of a Nurse-Driven Fluid Management Protocol to Improve Outcomes in Critically Ill Patients.

This article reports results of a nurse-driven fluid management protocol in a medical-surgical intensive care unit (ICU). Use of static measures such as central venous pressure monitoring, heart rate, blood pressure, and urine output is poor predictors of fluid responsiveness and can result in inappropriate fluid administration. Indiscriminate administration of fluid can result in prolonged mechanical ventilation time, increased vasopressor requirements, increased length of stay, and greater costs. Use of dynamic preload parameters such as stroke volume variation (SVV), pulse pressure variatio
