PURPOSE: Experiments were performed to characterize the location of proliferating cells in the balloon-dilated rabbit iliac artery.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Balloon angioplasty was performed on the external iliac arteries in each of four rabbits. The arteries were removed 3 days later, frozen, cryosectioned, and immunostained with Ki-67, an antibody that identifies proliferating cells. The sections were then examined to determine the patterns of cell proliferation within the arterial media and the ratio of proliferating to nonproliferating cells.

Primary Burkitt's lymphoma of the ovary is extremely rare. We report the case of a 39-year-old woman who presented with a 1-month history complaints of night sweats, abdominal pain and dyspnea. Physical examination demonstrated pleural effusions, ascites and an abdominal mass. Imaging showed enlargement of both ovaries extending to the surrounding tissue. Frozen sections on explorative laparotomy suggested granulosa cell tumor of the ovary, and thus extensive debulking was carried out. Here we report a rare case of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the retroperitoneal space. A 46-year-old woman had had microscopic hematuria for 5 years. Intramuscular blood vessels were examined with succinate dehydrogenase stain in skeletal muscle biopsy specimens from 6 patients with mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke-like episodes (MELAS). Frozen sections of jejunal mucosa from control subjects and patients with both treated and untreated coeliac disease were examined for HLA class II DR, DP and DQ expression.
