Celiac disease (CD) is characterized by small intestinal damage, which is mediated by a gluten-driven inflammatory response. PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This review addresses current controversies regarding appropriate indications for percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) insertion. We address specific indications, namely, dementia, stroke, aspiration, motor neurone disease/amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and head and neck cancer. BACKGROUND: A 20-year-old female presented to her gastroenterologist with fevers and right-labial pain and swelling. Painful erythematous nodules developed in her pretibial region soon after admission to a medical ward.
