We investigated whether the c.47T>C polymorphism (SNP rs4880) in the manganese superoxide dismutase (SOD2) gene is a risk factor for primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) in the Saudi population. Among cases (n=139), the prevalence of various genotypes were 25.9%, 46.8% and 27.3% for T/T, C/T and C/C genotypes respectively. We present a case report on a young man complaining of transient myopia following a blunt trauma. Clinical and paraclinical (ultrasound) follow-up allowed us to discuss the different physiopathological mechanisms involved. PURPOSE: To report on the efficacy and safety of CO2 laser-assisted sclerectomy surgery (CLASS) compared with trabeculectomy in primary open-angle glaucoma and exfoliative glaucoma.
METHODS: One hundred and thirty-one patients underwent CLASS (66 patients) or trabeculectomy (65 patients) and were followed up for 12 months.
