"Then you are left on your own": barriers to guideline-based speech and language therapy for aphasia along the patient journey in the German-speaking healthcare context.

BACKGROUND: Although evidence-based recommendations for aphasia rehabilitation exist, guideline-based speech and language therapy is still not consistently implemented in routine care. Previous studies have described barriers to therapy participation from the perspective of people with aphasia, but less is known about how these barriers develop along the patient journey, especially in outpatient care. This study explored systemic and individual barriers to the uptake of speech and language therapy in aphasia care and identified implications for improving services. METHODS: An exploratory qual

Barriers for general practitioners in post-stroke follow-up within a fragmented healthcare system in Sweden - a focus group study.

BACKGROUND: Secondary medical prevention after stroke is effective and well evidenced, making long-term follow-up crucial. This follow-up is mainly made by general practitioners (GPs) in Sweden. Low target achievement and up to fourfold practice variation in dispensation of secondary preventive drugs between different primary care units in Region Stockholm has been described. Although several factors in individual practices have been observed to be associated with insufficient target achievements, the underlying reasons for this variation are unclear. OBJECTIVES: To explore the perspectives o

A Missing Voice? Peer Support Workers' Perceptions of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy in Australia: A Cross-Sectional Survey.

INTRODUCTION: Peer Support Workers (PSWs) in mental health and substance use treatment draw on their lived experience (LE) to support clients through mutual understanding and trust. Psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) is emerging as a mental health and substance use treatment modality. As interest grows, understanding PSWs' perspectives on PAT is critical to inform safe and effective implementation, and the potential role PSWs can play in models of care. This study examined factors shaping PSWs' perspectives toward PAT and perceived barriers to its adoption and implementation. METHODS: A mixed

The hidden/ hard to reach men who have sex with men (MSM)-Results from the qualitative study in India.

BACKGROUND: To ensure a substantial impact and prevent the resurgence of the epidemic, the HIV programmes should effectively reach hidden key populations (KPs). A qualitative study was conducted to understand hidden men who have sex with men (MSM), and their needs and identify outreach strategies for those who were still unreached. METHODS: Between 17 March 2019 and 26 July 2019, 42 In-depth Interviews (IDIs), 40 Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), and 16 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) were conducted covering 170 participants across four states of India. Community informed recommendations for a campaign to promote awareness of long-acting injectable PrEP among Latino men who have sex with men.

BACKGROUND: Across the United Sates, Latino men who have sex with men (LMSM) face disproportionately high HIV risk. Although pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) effectively reduces HIV risk, numerous barriers limit PrEP access among LMSM. Culturally tailored public health campaigns provide one potential strategy for increasing access, awareness, and use of PrEP, including the newest long-acting injectable PrEP (LAI PrEP) formulations. The purpose of the study was to develop community-informed recommendations for a culturally responsive LAI PrEP awareness campaign designed for LMSM. METHODS: Betwe

An Evidence-Based Approach to Facilitating PrEP Initiation Among YMSM: The MyPEEPS Plus mHealth and E-Peer Navigation Intervention.

Men who have sex with men (MSM) account for nearly 70% of new HIV infections annually. Although awareness of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is growing, uptake remains low among young MSM. Peer navigators are well positioned to guide patients through PrEP care, provide psychosocial support, build trust, and demystify PrEP. Given strong evidence to support mobile health (mHealth) apps for enhancing HIV prevention knowledge, our team created MyPEEPS Plus, a HIV prevention combination intervention of mHealth and an electronic peer (e-peer) navigation program. In this article, we describe developm

HPV vaccine: Influencing peer recommendations through information provision at no-cost vaccine clinics.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection among people ages 15-24 years in the U.S. However, many individuals remain unvaccinated against HPV. Recommendations from friends and family have been shown to improve vaccine uptake and should be encouraged. This study aimed to determine if the provision of vaccine-related information would change the likelihood of recommending the HPV vaccine to their peers. Furthermore, we examined characteristics associated with a positive change. Participants were recruited at two no-cost vaccine clinics on a university campus in

Co-producing a media campaign intervention to encourage Nigeria women's engagement in early presentation to breast cancer screening: a qualitative study.

OBJECTIVE: Breast cancer significantly affects women globally, with women from low- and middle-income countries like Nigeria presenting late and at significant risk of mortality due to poor early screening. Yet a gap remains in the co-production of a media campaign intervention with women who are not or partially up to date with breast cancer screening using an interpretative phenomenological analytical lens. METHOD: Underpinned by a qualitative coproduction approach, a purposive sampling technique was adopted to recruit 11 participants, comprising women who are not or partially up to date wi
