Oxazolone-specific cytophilic antibodies in the sera of non-immune CBA mice and mice contact-sensitized with oxazolone, were studied with a rosette test employing peritoneal exudate macrophages and oxazolone-coupled sheep erythrocytes. Macrophage rosettes, produced by direct or indirect cytophilic antibodies, were found to depend on optimally hapten-coupled erythrocytes. BACKGROUND: Patch testing is the confirmatory procedure for allergic contact dermatitis. The test requires the application of chemicals under occlusion for approximately 48 hours to maximize penetration, although it can also produce irritation. We investigated three patients who developed agranulocytosis and seven patients who demonstrated neutropenia during therapy with clozapine as well as five patients who were asymptomatic while on clozapine.
