Our goal was to recreate a passive hemagglutination inhibition (PHAI) test to diagnose brown recluse spider (BRS; Loxosceles reclusa) bite envenomation for treatment trials. The S1602 Intergroup trial is a randomized phase III clinical trial that aims to test two important hypotheses: (1) priming with intradermal bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine prior to standard intravesical BCG improves response to BCG in terms of recurrence-free survival and (2) Tokyo-172 BCG strain is non-inferior to TICE BCG in terms of time to high-grade recurrence. The study was approved by the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program of the National Cancer Institute and activated in spring 2017. This paper describes the presence of transitory lymphadenopathy as an initial sign of cutaneous leishmaniasis, and sometimes the only manifestation of Leishmania braziliensis infection. Ten patients with lymphadenopathy living in an area of L. braziliensis transmission had Leishmania cultivated from their lymph nodes previous to any other manifestation of cutaneous leishmaniasis. Fifty four patients with cystic fibrosis, aged 3-67 years, were studied prospectively for pulmonary mycobacterial infection. Sputum smears and cultures were carried out and intradermal skin tests performed. Mycobacteria were cultured from six patients in association with clinical deterioration; four patients had positive direct smears. We describe herein four unusual clinical cases of rare allergy to foods in patients affected by allergic rhinitis and asthma. The patients were skin tested both with commercial food extracts and using prick-prick procedure with fresh foods. Total and specific IgE in serum were determined by REAST. Grapes, lupine seeds, black mulberry and artichoke resulted positive in the patients under study. This is the first time allergy to ingested artichoke has been described.

The aim of this study was to determine the aeroallergen sensitivity of allergic rhinitis patients.
