The antrochoanal polyp is a particular pathology of nasal fossae and sinuses. Since the first description made by Killian, several pathogenic mechanisms and surgical techniques have been reported. AIM: To characterize the computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumours (IMTs) of the maxillary sinus.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The imaging findings of eight patients with IMTs of the maxillary sinus were reviewed retrospectively. Neuroendocrine tumors constitute a heterogeneous group of neoplasms arising from the cells of the neural crest. We present a rare case of primary sinonasal neuroendocrine carcinoma in a 61-year-old male patient where somatostatin receptor PET/CT with 68Ga-DOTANOC correctly delineated the extent of primary tumor as compared to contrast-enhanced CT, thereby changing patient management.

OBJECTIVES: Evaluate the efficacy of endoscopic treatment in maxillary inverted papilloma (IP).
METHODOLOGY: Between July 2002 - April 2008, 20 patients affected by maxillary localization of IP were treated in our Clinic. All patients underwent endoscopic treatment consisting of an endoscopic medial maxillectomy (simple or extended), or attachment-site endoscopic tumour surgery.

We describe the case of a 41-year-old woman who presented with a malignant myoepithelioma (MME) in her left maxillary sinus. Exploratory biopsy of the left maxillary sinus was performed and pathological examination demonstrated that the tumour was positive for calponin and cytokeratin 14, which are indicative of MME. Lateral rhinotomy and left total maxillectomy were undertaken and the patient received radiotherapy and chemotherapy post-surgery. BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incidence of lymph node metastasis among patients with T4 maxillary sinus squamous cell carcinoma (MS-SCC) as well as the delayed metastasis rate and the treatment outcome for untreated N0 neck in patients with T4 MS-SCC.

The aim of presented work is analysis of the inverted papilloma cases treated by endoscopic surgery between years 2006 and 2008. Within this period there were 180 surgeries, out of which 11 patients were diagnosed with papilloma inversum in the histopatological test of irradiated tissue. Symptoms reported by the patients, tumor loci, scope of the surgery and its efficiency are described and analyzed. The arguments supporting endoscopic surgery as a treatment modality for inverted papilloma are presented.

Primary mucosal malignant melanoma is of unusual occurrence and poor prognosis. We report two cases of primary mucosal melanoma, one in a 70-year-old male in the palate and the other in a 73-year-old female in the maxillary sinus. Early diagnosis and proper clinical and cytologic evaluation is necessary to institute therapeutic intervention. These cases are reported on account of their rarity of occurrence and difficulty of treatment.

Numerous distinct neoplasms are encountered at the anterior cranial base. Management of these primary tumors and their locoregional recurrences are dictated by the histopathologic diagnosis. We present two unusual cases of extra-axial anterior cranial base malignancies with locoregional recurrence where the recurrent tumor encountered was of a distinct histopathologic type. While rare, this report highlights the possibility of encountering a distinct tumor type in the posttreatment surveillance of patients with anterior cranial base malignancies.

Five cases of juvenile angiofibroma are reported. The nose and nasopharynx were involved in four cases and the nose and right maxillary sinus in one. Presenting symptoms were epistaxis and nasal blockage while two patients also had dacryocystitis and secretory otitis media.
