Exocrine pancreatic function was studied after meal stimulation and intravenous hormone stimulation with secretin and cholecystokinin in 10 patients with duodenal ulcers before, and 3 to 4 months after, highly selective vagotomy. Hormone stimulation was also performed in 10 healthy volunteers. Meal stimulation test results pre- and postoperatively were not certainly different, but it was concluded that the test technique was inappropriate to the study, not least because no correction of aspirated volumes is possible. BACKGROUND: Insulin autoimmune syndrome (IAS), a rare condition caused by an endogenous insulin-induced autoimmune reaction, is characterized by recurrent hypoglycemic episodes, positive insulin autoantibodies (IAAs), and high serum insulin levels. However, recent studies have demonstrated that exogenous insulin administration can also lead to similar clinical manifestations and have proposed the concept of non-classical IAS. This article reports two cases of exogenous insulin antibody syndrome (EIAS), analyzes their clinical features, and describes our therapeutic approach.

INTRODUCTION: Paragangliomas are rare neuroendocrine tumors that arise from chromaffin cells. Often termed extra-adrenal pheochromocytomas, these tumors vary with regards to their functionality, location, and malignant potential. Mutations in the RET proto-oncogene are associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN-2) and paragangliomas. The phenotypes of the individual mutations are documented to help determine prognosis.
