Female, 57 year-old patient, reported having undergone surgery for correction of urinary incontinence due to sphincteric insufficiency with the implantation of a synthetic pubovaginal sling 14 months earlier. Though she did not present urine loss any longer, approximately 60 days following the surgical procedure she started to report dysuria, pollakiuria and dyspareunia. Attempts of a conservative solution were ineffective. The appearance of a vaginal infra-urethral granuloma and the exteriorization of the synthetic material led to its removal.

The case of a voluminous neoplasia originating at the manubrium sterni is described. Given the rapid growth of the mass and its dimensions, the mass was removed surgically together with the manubrium sterni and the sternal extremity of the clavicle and of the first two ribs. Plastic food containers used in food delivery may pose underrecognized health risks by releasing micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs), especially when in contact with oil-rich foods. Here, we show that cooking oil dramatically increased MNP release from polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE)-coated containers within 3 min of microwave heating, reaching up to 1.52 × 1014 particles/L, approximately 125-fold higher than with water. BACKGROUND: A new prosthesis was designed for reconstruction of the bifurcation of the trachea and used for experimental carinal replacement in dogs.
METHODS: The main Frame of the new prosthesis consists of Y-shaped Marlex mesh tube reinforced with polypropylene spirals. It is coated with collagen extracted from porcine skin to provide biocompatibility and airtightness. Carinal replacement with omentopexy was performed in 17 dogs.

Female urinary stress incontinence diminishes the quality of life of about 5% of women. It is usually dealt with by surgery to correct the relaxed pelvic floor, the cause of the incontinence. Tension-free vaginal tape is used in a newly described procedure. It consists of the vaginal introduction of a prolene needle-guided mid-urethral sling. The procedure is easy to perform under local anesthesia, recovery is rapid, and results are similar to those of other effective operations. We report 44 patients who underwent this type of surgery.
