Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) induced by drugs, primarily hydralazine and procainamide, is reviewed and compared with idiopathic SLE, and the use of these drugs in patients with idiopathic SLE is discussed. CASE REPORT: A 45-year-old man was diagnosed with malaria with neurological involvement. Two months later he referred metamorphopsia in the left eye. Malarial retinopathy was observed in the fundus examination. The Optic Coherence Tomography (OCT) of the macula showed parafoveal pigment epithelium detachment (DEP). We reviewed the ultrasonographic studies and the clinical course of 22 fetuses with supraventricular tachycardia to determine whether the heart rate alone could serve as a basis for conservative management. Hydrops was not encountered with heart rates under 230 beats per minute. The conditions of all 22 fetuses stabilized without invasive administration of medications.
