Synchronous primary anorectal melanoma and colorectal adenocarcinoma is extremely rare, with only 5 cases reported in the literature. We herein report a case of rectosigmoid cancer metastasizing to a fistula in ano. A 53-year-old man complaining of anal bleeding consulted another hospital. He had been suffering from an anal fistula since 7 years. On the left upper side of the skin surface around the anus a fistula end was seen as a hole that tunneled down into the back passage, although no hard tumor was palpable on the hole. Hand-assisted laparoscopic radical nephrectomy is an established therapeutic choice for localized renal cell carcinoma. Laparoscopic sigmoidectomy is becoming accepted for the treatment of locally advanced sigmoid colon cancer. Primary cancer may occur synchronously in two different organs, in which case simultaneous resection is recommended if possible. To our knowledge this is the first report of simultaneous laparoscopic resection of coexistent renal and colonic double primary malignant tumors.

Radiological findings in three cases of sigmoid colon carcinoma invading the urinary bladder are reported. An irregular spiculated margin or nodular indentations in region of bladder dome were seen on intravenous urography. A soft tissue mass contiguous with an irregularly thickened urinary bladder wall and a circumferentially thickened sigmoid colon wall were demonstrated on CT and sonography and led to the correct diagnosis.

A personal series of 395 cases of malignant tumours of the large intestine observed at the Surgical Division of the Cuneo Hospital from 1963 to 1973 is reported. Of the series examined, 206 cases involved the sigmoid colon and rectum and 33 the remaining colon. The percentage in which radical surgery was possible was of the order of 52%. Survival at 5 years after the operation was: 1) carcinoma of the colon 30%, 2) of the sigmoid 42.1% and 3) of the rectum 45%.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a therapeutic technique for en-bloc resection of both large (>20 mm) and smaller, complex gastrointestinal neoplasms. ESD has a higher success rate of en-bloc resection and a lower rate of local recurrence compared to endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR). Removal of lesions via ESD can leave large mucosal defects, raising unique challenges leading to adverse events. Granular cell tumors (GCTs) are uncommon benign neoplasms in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and our current understanding of GCT in GI tract is limited.
