OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the value of rectangle titanium cage (SynCage-C) in the anterior cervical spine fusion.
METHODS: Nineteen patients underwent anterior cervical discectomy and interbody fusion using SynCage-C with average follow-up of 9 months.
RESULTS: All cases had cervical spondylosis with 13 cases of myelopathy and 6 cases of radiculopathy. One level fusion were 16 cases and two levels were 3 cases. We have studied the effect of hydroxyapatite (HA) coating in 15 ovariectomised and 15 normal rats which had had a sham procedure. Twenty-four weeks after operation, HA-coated implants were inserted into the intramedullary canal of the right femur and uncoated implants into the left femur. In reconstruction of the partially and totally edentulous ridges that have bony defects due to old trauma or longstanding atrophy, it is necessary to reconstruct both the width and height of the alveolar ridge. This clinical case report covers bone regeneration prior to implant placement to achieve an aesthetic and functional base for prosthetic restoration. The focus of this report will be on bone regeneration, which does not depend on the utilization of a barrier membrane.

To assess the trapping efficiency of two vena cava filters, 326 radiopaque thrombi 5 mm in diameter were injected into adult sheep: four with LG-Medical (LGM) and four with titanium Greenfield (TG) filters. Guinea-pigs were exposed for 14 days to an aerosol of titanium dioxide (TiO2) dust to produce macrophage blockade. Groups of the animals were later infected by aerosol with Legionella pneumophila. Histological and ultrastructural studies showed that TiO2 dust alone was inert and non-fibrogenic and even at 6 weeks induced no pathological lesions in the lungs, apart from accumulation of macrophages in interalveolar septa. Rats were exposed to TiO2 by inhalation exposure to concentrations of 0, 10, 50, and 250 mg/m3 for 6 hr/day, 5 days/week for 2 years.
