Forced eruption offers a method of treatment of teeth fractured close to the alveolar crest. We introduce a modification of this common technique. The fractured fragment of a patient's crown is bonded to the adjacent teeth and used as anchorage, permitting the root extrusion while offering acceptable aesthetics. The bonded crown does not impede the eruption of the root so that the frequent occlusal adjustment of other methods is not required. The final result is acceptable and a low cost alternative to common techniques.

A case involving traumatic injury to the maxillary anterior teeth with crown and transverse intra-alveolar root fractures is reported. The patient did not seek immediate treatment after trauma. Treatment included pulpectomy, fixation of a fractured root, root canal obturation, endodontic therapy of the coronal segment, and postoperative observation. Follow-up showed good results. Thus effective nonsurgical endodontic therapy of traumatized anterior teeth can result in a good prognosis in cases involving crown and intra-alveolar root fractures.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of dental trauma educational intervention among undergraduate students of a Federal University in Brazil.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Students (n = 125) enrolled in the dentistry (n = 70), nursing (n = 33), and speech therapy (n = 22) courses were invited to attend a dental trauma lecture and also to answer a questionnaire about their confidence in managing crown fracture and tooth avulsion, before (T0) and immediately after (T1) the lecture.
