The changes of photo- and peroxide resistance of erythrocytic and lymphocytic cells of human under influence of UV and some active oxygen forms in presence of biogenic amines such as serotonin, dopamine, adrenalin, histamine had been investigated. BACKGROUND: Previous studies in Rett syndrome (RS) patients suggested various abnormalities in biogenic amines, pterins, and folate values in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Our aim was to analyse these metabolites in CSF of 16 RS patients (age range: 2 - 23 years). Biogenic amines, pterins, and 5-methyltetrahydrofolate were measured by HPLC with electrochemical and fluorescence detection.

The surface of indium-tin oxide (ITO) substrates was successfully modified with aziridine. Modification of the surface was achieved through facile ring-opening, and hyperbranching polymerization of the ring-strained heterocycle initiated from the reactive group on the surface. Extracellular fluid protein (ECFP) of Streptomyces species SS07 has been used to reduce water soluble azo dyes and the carcinogenic amines released have been compared with that from chemical reduction. The effect of temperature, pH and contact time on the recovery of amines using ECFP was studied. Identification of causative agents for human cancers is the goal of our studies. We analyzed ordinary foods for mutagenicity, using the well-established Salmonella test. In vivo microdialysis was used to determine the effect of diazepam, flumazenil and FG-7142 upon the biogenic amine response to acute and repeated swim stress in the medial prefrontal cortex of the rat. Acute swim stress increased norepinephrine levels, although dopamine and serotonin levels remained stable. Stress caused by voluntary retention of urine in 25 normal healthy volunteers has been estimated by measuring the levels of biogenic amines (serotonin, catecholamine) in blood and urine. Estimations were done before and after voluntary retention of urine. Plasma and urine catecholamines and 5-HT significantly increased after retention.
