Imaging assessment of malignancy screening using computed tomography and diffusion-weighted whole-body imaging with background body signal suppression in rheumatoid arthritis.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate differences in information obtained from plain computed tomography (CT) and diffusion-weighted whole-body imaging with background body signal suppression (DWIBS) during malignancy screening in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. METHODS: We enrolled 524 patients with RA who underwent plain CT from the chest to the pelvis and DWIBS. CT and DWIBS were performed within 3 months of each other. Rheumatologists, radiologists, and pulmonologists interpreted the plain CT and DWIBS images. RESULTS: The prevalence of malignancy was 3.1%. Prostate, lung, breast, uterine, ovar

Clinical Utility of Diffusion-weighted Whole-body Magnetic Resonance Imaging with Background Body Signal Suppression for Assessing and Monitoring IgG4-related Disease.

A 77-year-old man with symptoms of chest pain was diagnosed with immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related disease. Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) revealed an intense uptake in the submandibular gland, lymph nodes and abdominal aortic wall. Diffusion-weighted imaging with background body signal suppression (DWIBS) revealed signal enhancements at the same location as those of the FDG-PET/CT findings. The DWIBS signal intensity decreased after steroid treatment, so we decreased the steroid dosage. Relapse did not occur. DWIBS makes it possible to adjust t

Diffusion-weighted Whole-body Imaging with Background Body Signal Suppression (DWIBS) as a Novel Imaging Modality for Disease Activity Assessment in Takayasu's Arteritis.

A 26-year-old woman with Takayasu's arteritis (TAK) experienced back and neck pain during tocilizumab (TCZ) treatment. The levels of C-reactive protein were normal, and ultrasonography revealed no significant changes. Diffusion-weighted whole-body imaging with background body signal suppression (DWIBS) showed signal enhancement in the walls of several arteries. Contrast computed tomography showed arterial inflammation in the same lesion. After increasing the dose of prednisolone and TCZ, all signal enhancements decreased and continued to decrease, as observed on days 76 and 132. Thus, DWIBS ma

Reproducibility of a quantitative body diffusion score derived from whole-body diffusion-weighted imaging (DWIBS) for assessment of bone metastases in prostate cancer.

PURPOSE: To evaluate whether changes in diffusion-based total lesion volume (ΔtDV) on whole-body MRI correlate with changes in serum prostate-specific antigen (ΔPSA) after therapy, and to assess reproducibility of ΔtDV measurements. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective study included 20 prostate cancer patients who underwent whole-body MRI before and after treatment. Changes in total lesion volume (ΔtDV), mean apparent diffusion coefficient (ΔmADC), and PSA (ΔPSA) were calculated. Correlations between ΔtDV and ΔPSA, as well as between ΔmADC and ΔPSA, were evaluated using Spearman's rank

Influence of body weight and body mass index on the chronic pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic responses to clinically available doses of ticagrelor in patients with chronic coronary syndromes.

Ticagrelor has multiple indications, including for some patients with chronic coronary syndromes (CCS) at high risk of ischaemic events. Body mass can potentially affect pharmacodynamics (PD) and pharmacokinetics (PK). We investigated the influence of body mass (range 53-172 kg, 20.8-46.9 kg/m2) on PD/PK in 221 CCS patients receiving ticagrelor 60 mg or 90 mg twice-daily (BD) during two randomised-controlled trials. Correlations between body weight (BW) or body mass index (BMI) and PD/PK measurements obtained during maintenance treatment at trough ('pre-dose') and peak effect ('post-dose') wer…

Circulating Spexin Is Associated with Body Mass Index and Fat Mass but Not with Physical Activity and Psychological Parameters in Women across a Broad Body Weight Spectrum.

Spexin (SPX) is a novel, widely expressed peptide, with anorexigenic effects demonstrated in animal models and negatively correlated with body mass index (BMI) in humans. It increases locomotor activity in rodents and is elevated in human plasma following exercise. Studies have also shown an effect of stress and anxiety on SPX’s expression in different brain structures in animals. The relationships between plasma SPX and physical activity, body composition, and patient-reported outcomes such as perceived stress, depressiveness, anxiety, and eating behaviors are unknown and were examined in thi

Diffusion-weighted whole body imaging with background body signal suppression/T2 image fusion is negative for patients with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: One major problem with Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) is the appearance of pancreatic duct adenocarcinoma. Diffusion-weighted whole body imaging with background body signal suppression (DWIBS) provides hyperintense signals in cases of cancer. DWIBS and T2 image fusion (DWIBS/T2) provides functional information in anatomical settings, and is useful for the detection of cancer with strong contrast against surrounding tissues. DWIBS/T2 signals were analyzed in patients with IPMN to investigate positive or negative results. METHODOLOGY: Patient records were analyz

Development and Validation of a Comprehensive Obesity Assessment Tool: Integrating Lifestyle, Body Image, and Past Weight Management.

INTRODUCTION: Young adulthood is a critical period for the establishment of lifelong health behaviours. However, increasing sedentary lifestyles, suboptimal dietary patterns, and weight-related body image concerns contribute to the growing burden of obesity in this age group. A comprehensive and culturally sensitive assessment tool is needed to capture these multidimensional factors. This study aimed to develop and psychometrically validate a questionnaire assessing lifestyle behaviours, weight-related body image concerns, and past weight management strategies among young adults (YAs). Optimizing omega-3 supplementation in chronically ill dogs: The impact of body weight and dietary inclusion rates.

Nutritional supplement dosages for dogs are often expressed relative to overall body weight (BW). However, daily food intake scales with metabolic weight (BW0.75). This discrepancy implies that the ingested dose of supplements included in diets does not increase linearly with BW. This study evaluated the impact of this phenomenon on omega-3 supplementation, comparing the theoretical efficacy of extruded therapeutic diets using cardiac (dosage expressed by BW) and chronic kidney disease (dosage expressed by BW0.75) dosage models. The theoretical dietary intake of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and…
