Accessory cardiac bronchus (ACB) has been described mainly as case reports finding (frequency 0.08%-0.39%). Even though 50% of all ACBs have a blind extremity, imaging studies have demonstrated that some develop into a series of bronchioles with cystic degeneration or a ventilated lobule demarcated by an anomalous fissure and extremely rare with an abnormal pulmonary artery. In this case, ACB was demonstrated on several imaging methods arising from the intermediate bronchus's medial wall with correspondent blood vessels and fissure. Although an ACB is not a pathological entity and most patient…

Central airway obstruction (CAO) is a critical condition characterized by the blockage of the trachea or mainstem bronchi, leading to respiratory distress. Diagnosis involves clinical assessment, pulmonary function tests, and imaging, with flexible bronchoscopy being the gold standard for direct visualization and intervention. Endoscopic techniques has revolutionized CAO management through minimally invasive techniques such as endobronchial tumor debulking, airway stenting, and balloon dilation. These methods aim to restore airway patency and control bleeding, improving patient outcomes. This …

A 13-year-old spayed female Persian cat presented with dyspnea and nasal discharge. Thoracic radiography revealed a dome-shaped soft-tissue opacity in the carina. Computed tomography confirmed a soft tissue-attenuating mass in the carina and the left and right proximal main bronchi that appeared to arise from the tracheal wall. Tracheoscopy revealed an intraluminal broad-based mass with multilobulated borders at the same location. Histopathological evaluation revealed a benign neoplastic process of the glandular epithelial lineage, which was considered an adenoma. Tracheal adenomas should be i…

Pulmonary aspiration continues to be a major cause of anesthesia-related mortality. Anesthesiologists are encouraged to perform bronchoscopy to manage aspiration of particulate matter; however, they have limited training and experience in clearing luminal obstructions endoscopically. In our report, an adult with achalasia aspirated during induction for a per-oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM), resulting in desaturation and high airway pressures. Bronchoscopy by the anesthesiologist was ineffective. However, bronchoscopy by the gastroenterologist using a pediatric gastroscope cleared the bronchi of…

Minimally invasive anatomical sublobar resections have gained relevance in recent years mainly due to advances in imaging techniques, screen … , with a low risk of complications and without additional cost, for the identification of segmental bronchi in minimally invasive segmentectomies.
