A 50-year-old man presented with pruritic, hyperpigmented papules and plaques on the right lower extremity following Blaschko lines. A skin biopsy specimen was consistent with lichen planus (LP). Linear LP accounts for less than 0.2 percent of all patients with LP, and the segmental formation is thought to be due to a postzygotic mutation that affects one of the genes predisposing its development. This loss of heterozygosity may occur from a mutation, deletion, or DNA recombination and leads to the formation of a keratinocyte clone that is more susceptible to development of the skin disease. H

Bovine respiratory disease is the most common health issue affecting stocker cattle. There are several nonrespiratory diseases that affect stockers. The more common diseases include rumen tympany, infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis, coccidiosis, photosensitization, and foot rot. Myiasis is the infestation of human or animal tissues by fly larvae. The disease is widespread especially in tropical countries. Here we report a case of myiasis due to Cordylobia anthropophaga that occurred in a traveller returning from Senegal. Fusarium species are common soil saprophytes and plant pathogens that have been frequently reported as etiologic agents of opportunistic infections in humans. We report eight cases of onychomycosis caused by Fusarium solani (4) and Fusarium oxysporum (4) in São Paulo, Brazil. These species were isolated from toenails in all cases. The infections were initially considered to be caused by dermatophytes. Plantar epidermoid cysts with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection are not rare in Japan. Most of them show the cytopathic effect of HPV type 60 - homogeneous intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies. Our case presented a plantar epidermoid cyst with vacuolation around the granular cell layer without any features of HPV type 60. In situ hybridization and polymerase chain reaction followed by DNA sequencing analysis revealed an association with HPV type 57.

Ciclopirox 8% nail lacquer is a recently introduced topical formulation of the hydroxypyridone antimycotic ciclopirox. In vitro data indicate that ciclopirox has activity against the important pathogenic dermatophytes responsible for onychomycosis. The lacquer delivery system provides a high concentration gradient for the transfer of the antifungal agent through the nail plate. Daily application to the toenail surface of healthy subjects resulted in good penetration and distribution within all nail layers. Systemic absorption of ciclopirox in five patients with onychomycosis was minimal.

We report two cases of brown pigmentation accompanied by hemorrhagic papules. A 61-year-old woman and a 53-year-old woman presented with brown pigmentation accompanied with hemorrhagic papules occurring bilaterally from the dorsal aspect of the feet to the lower legs. The clinical picture was of pigmented purpuric dermatosis, but histopathologically, they were hemorrhagic granulomatous inflammation of the upper dermis. As no systemic granulomatous lesions were observed, these cases were considered to be granulomatous pigmented purpuric dermatosis.

An outbreak of digital dermatitis in a dairy herd in the Gauteng province of South Africa is described in which 72% of the lactating herd was affected. Many of the affected cows showed a severe lameness and a drop in milk production. Other complications included heel horn erosion, under-running of heel horn and boxy claws.
