One case of inflammatory pseudo-tumor revealed by mictional disorders is reported. Ultrasonography and computed tomography visualised a non specific formation of bladder dome witch extend to the Retzius space and umbilicus. The diagnosis of urachal tumor had been suspected. Anatomopathologic analysis of the operative piece disclose a diagnosis of the urachal remnants with foreign body type of inflammation. Since malignant transformation of urachal remnants is possible, surgical resection is advised.

A forearm plate retained for 50 years was removed because an acute inflammation mimicked chronic infection. The radiographs were very confusing. During the operation metallosis was obvious. Despite the general opinion that forearm plates should be kept in place, this probably should not apply to old "historical" hardware of uncertain chemical composition.

In severe Anguillicola crassus infection of eels, adult helminths and 2nd stage larvae staying in the swimbladder lumen may occasionally get, through minor lesions of the tunica interna, into the subserosa of the swimbladder wall where they die and disintegrate. A thin connective tissue capsule is formed around the helminths that behave as foreign bodies in intercellular location, while the lacunas of the surrounding loose connective tissue comprise melanin-containing macrophages. In the environment of the 2nd stage larvae the formation of giant cells is a typical finding.

The histological changes relating to 2 separate artificial hormone replacement implants in a 34 yr old female are presented. Both sites essentially showed a predominant lymphohistiocytic reaction with fibrosis. One implant was intact while the other had disintegrated.

We present 2 patients who developed stones (6 and 57 g) in the ileal conduit; the first stone was passed and the second required surgical removal; its nidus was a surgical staple. After a review of the literature which includes 25 other cases of stones in ileal conduits, as well as over 20 cases of stones in continent urinary pouches, it is concluded that the use of metallic staples in the construction of the ileal conduit or the continent urinary pouch should be abandoned.

A case is reported of a 48-year-old woman who had subcutaneous liquid silicone injections in the forehead for cosmetic reasons Twenty years later she developed an acute inflammation of the eyelids and orbits, which led to immobilization of the lids and globes. Treatment consisted mainly of topical application of cortisone and heparin; the symptoms almost completely regressed in about 2-3 months.

To determine the biocompatibility and thrombogenicity of nitinol blood clot filters, we inserted 27 nitinol wire devices into the venae cavae of 16 dogs and one sheep and studied the results angiographically and at autopsy after periods of one week to four years. Two particularly problematic clinical entities are chosen from the many possible causes of the pathophysiology of subglottic tracheal stenoses in childhood: malformations of the "hard" and "soft" types of stenosis occurring typically as primary lesions; and stenoses caused by trauma (following intubation or faulty tracheostomy) as the most common secondary lesions. Incarcerations and perforations of foreign bodies in the gastrointestinal tract are relatively rare. In most cases the foreign bodies must be removed by operation, especially after having passed the stomach. A patient is described with an ingested chicken bone which had incarcerated in the sigmoid colon and had brought about an inflammatory stenosis of the gut. After endoscopical removement of the foreign body the symptoms of the patient disappeared and the findings in the gut returned to normal, so that an operation could be avoided.

We present two cases of histologically proven maternal intraperitoneal granulomata following cesarean section delivery. One patient presented during the immediate postpartum period with clinical symptoms consistent with subphrenic abscess.
