SUMMARY: Pituitary metastasis (PM) can be the initial presentation of an otherwise unknown malignancy. As PM has no clinical or radiological pathognomonic features, diagnosis is challenging. BACKGROUND: Most common incidentally detected sellar-suprasellar region (SSR) masses are pituitary adenomas, followed by craniopharyngioma, rathke's cleft cyst, hypophysitis, and meningioma. Granular cell tumor (GCT) is a rare neoplasm occurring in the sellar and suprasellar spaces. It is a primary tumor of the neurohypophysis, presumably arising from the pituicytes, a distinctive glial cell of the neurohypophysis. GCTs in most reported cases show biologically benign behavior with slow growth. Only 70 cases of hypophyseal GCTs have been reported in the literature. We report a case of GCT in the neurohypophysis of a 46-year-old woman and discuss the histological and clinical features of this neoplasm together with the treatment modalities, reviewing the pertinent literature.

X-linked agammaglobulinemia and isolated growth hormone deficiency was first described in 1980 and then classified as a different primary immune deficiency. Delayed puberty in patients with X-linked agammaglobulinemia may result in delayed secretion of growth hormone (GH). To determine true isolated growth hormone deficiency. GH stimulation tests and other hypophyseal hormone evaluations must be performed. In this paper, we report a 15-year-old boy with X-linked agammaglobulinemia and isolated growth hormone deficiency, and review related literature.

Activation of the opioid receptors by delta-agonist DSLET and by kappa-agonist rimorphin led to a significant inhibition of plaque-forming and rosette-forming cells in the CBA mice. On the other hand, mu-agonist DAGO stimulated the immune response on the 4th and 5th days after immunization with SRBC (5 x 10(8)). Lesion of the hypothalamo-hypophyseal connection prevented immuno-stimulating as well as immuno-depressive effects. The latter seems to be due to an interaction with the serotoninergic system, whereas immuno-stimulating effect involves the dopaminergic system.

A 25 year old woman had galactorrhea and secondary amenorrhea since her first pregnancy at 20 years. After several treatments with Clomiphene, menses reappeared for 2 months and she became pregnant. At admission, she was in her 4th pregnancy month and had headaches and bitemporal hemianopsia. Hypophysectomy was performed during 5th pregnancy month. Prolactin adenoma with hemorragic lesions was found. Parturition of normal twins occurred 8th month. Partial hypophyseal recovery took place for the following 2 years, but hyperprolactinemia reappeared too.

Neuroendocrine complications are among important and frequently missed complications of traumatic brain injury. Hypopituitarism, the partial or complete insufficiency of anterior pituitary secretion may be underrecognized due to its subtle clinical manifestations in traumatic patients. We report a case of 14.5-year-old girl who was admitted due to growth failure and had been diagnosed to have multiple hypophyseal hormone deficiency including thyroid-stimulating hormone, gonadotropins, adrenocorticotropin hormone which developed years after traumatic head injury.

The syndrome was the consequence of relapse after transphenoidal resection of a pituitary tumor in one and due to occult ACTH secretion in the other. A 52-year-old man presented with vomiting, general fatigue and hyponatremia. His symptoms and signs were consistent with the syndrome of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone (SIADH).
