The relationship between Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates causing invasive infections in children admitted to a single center in central Israel was examined by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and serotyping. METHODS: In a retrospective study, computerized data from all Ethiopian women who delivered between January 2004 and August 2011 at a university teaching hospital in Afula, Israel, were assessed. MICs for penicillin, tetracycline, ceftriaxone, ciprofloxacin, spectinomycin, and azithromycin were determined by the Etest method for 406 gonococcal strains obtained in 2002-2007 from an STI clinic and a general microbiology laboratory in Central Israel.
