Photobiomodulation pre-treatment enhances ALA-induced PpIX accumulation and photodynamic therapy response in oral squamous cell carcinoma cells in cell culture.

INTRODUCTION: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photobiomodulation (PBM) are light-based modalities with differing applications but which share overlapping spectral and irradiance requirements. PDT, which uses an exogenous photosensitizer, can be used to impart a selective cytotoxic response in target malignant tissues, while PBM is typically used to stimulate biological responses that are beneficial in healthy tissues. The inherent compatibility in light delivery requirements suggests the potential for exploring interactions between these modalities which could enhance tumor response to PDT. OB

Combination of Q-switched 1,064 and 532 nm Nd: YAG laser in the treatment of toenail onychomycosis: a pilot study.

Previous studies have demonstrated that laser-based therapies can effectively improve the appearance of nails affected by onychomycosis, offering a high safety margin, making them suitable for patients in whom systemic antifungal agents are contraindicated. Building on earlier studies, a pilot clinical trial was designed to assess the effectiveness of a Q-switched Nd: YAG laser using dual wavelengths (1,064 nm and 532 nm) for the treatment of toenail onychomycosis. This study involved 15 participants with distal lateral subungual onychomycosis (DLSO) of the big toe caused by dermatophytes. Eac

Comment on "Laser-induced modulation of root dentin surface for growth factor release and enhanced stem cell response".

BACKGROUND: Laser conditioning of dentin has been investigated as a strategy to enhance growth factor release and cellular responses in regenerative endodontics. The recent study by Mokhtari et al. reported laser-induced modulation of root dentin, increased transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1) release, and enhanced alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity. However, several methodological aspects should be considered when interpreting these findings and their potential clinical translation. MAIN TEXT: A critical analysis identifies important limitations in the experimental design. First, all

Sequential pulsed dye and Nd:YAG laser therapy for deep venous malformation presenting as recurrent Pyogenic granuloma.

Pyogenic granuloma may recur when an underlying vascular anomaly remains untreated. We report a case of recurrent pyogenic granuloma of the finger pulp associated with a deep venous malformation successfully treated using sequential dual-wavelength pulsed dye laser (PDL, 585-595 nm) and Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm). Four sessions were performed at three-month intervals (PDL 6 J/cm2; Nd:YAG 50 J/cm2; 10-mm spot; long delay sequential mode) with integrated cooling. Complete clinical resolution was achieved without adverse effects or recurrence after five years. Sequential PDL-Nd:YAG therapy represents
