Small cell carcinoma (SCC) occurs mostly in the lung, and in some patients is accompanied by production of ectopic hormones. Small cell carcinoma of the head and neck is very rare. We report 4 patients with SCC of the head and neck (larynx, tonsil, maxillary sinus, and parotid gland). This clinical report describes the use of a glass fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) substructure to reinforce the silicone elastomer of a large facial prosthesis. The FRC substructure was shaped into a framework and embedded into the silicone elastomer to form a reinforced facial prosthesis. The prosthesis is designed to overcome the disadvantages associated with traditionally fabricated prostheses; namely, delamination of the silicone of the acrylic base, poor marginal adaptation over time, and poor simulation of facial expressions.

CT findings in 45 cases of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) were reviewed. There were 27 primary and 22 (23 episodes) cases of recurrent tumor, 4 (5 episodes) cases of recurrent tumor were initially treated in our hospital. BACKGROUND: Sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma (SNUC) remains a poorly characterized malignancy at both the clinical and molecular level, and, consequently, the optimal treatment strategy remains undefined.
METHODS: We used a mass spectroscopy-based approach (Sequenom) to evaluate 95 hallmark single nucleotide variations (SNVs) within 12 oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes (AKT, BRAF, CDK4, Beta-catenin, epidermal growth factor receptor [EGFR], FBXW7, JAK2, c-KIT, KRAS, PDGFR, PI3K, and vascular endothelial growth factor [VEGF]) in 13 histologically confirmed SNUC cases.

The patient is a 65-year-old man, who underwent curative resection for maxillary sinus carcinoma after chemoradiation. Lung metastases were observed two months following resection, and were treated with S-1 at a dose of 120 mg/day. One course of the S-1 administration regimen consisted of 2 weeks and a 1-week interval. The patient achieved long survival for 527 days with no adverse reaction. Therefore, this treatment on an outpatient basis greatly contributed to his quality of life. We consider S-1 as a first-line anti-cancer drug for tumor dormancy therapy.

BACKGROUND: Sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma (SNUC) is an uncommon malignancy of the nasal cavity and accessory sinuses with limited available studies evaluating role of induction chemotherapy (IC), demographics, and socioeconomic factors on overall survival (OS).
METHODS: The 2004-2015 National Cancer Database was queried for patients with histologically confirmed SNUC. IC was defined as chemotherapy administered 6 months to 2 weeks before surgery or ≥45 days before radiotherapy.
