Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris in an Atopic Dermatitis Patient: A Case Report.

Pityriasis rubra pilaris (PRP) is a rare, chronic, inflammatory papulosquamous skin disease. Here, we report a case of a 43-year-old female with a known history of atopic dermatitis, bronchiectasis, and goiter who presented with a six-month history of persistent itchy skin lesions on her extremities. A skin examination revealed multiple diffuse, well-defined, fine, scaly erythematous patches with areas of spared skin over all four extremities, along with palmoplantar keratoderma. The trunk was spared. The differential diagnosis included atopic eczema, pityriasis rubra pilaris, dermatomyositis,…

Dermoscopy as a diagnostic aid in pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta.

Diagnosis of pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta (PLEVA) is based on the characteristic pattern of lesions in different stages of development, ranging from erythematous maculopapules to papules with a crusted and/or necrotic centre. However, it may raise the differential diagnosis with other entities. It is therefore not uncommon to have to perform skin biopsies to reach a diagnosis, including in infants. In this study, we report the cases of three patients with PLEVA, highlighting the correlations between the clinical, dermoscopic and histological features. Observation of the dermat…

Impact of COVID-19 on Clinicopathological Spectrum of Pityriasis Rosea in Korea.

BACKGROUND: Pityriasis rosea (PR) is a papulosquamous eruption with generally unknown origin but suspected to be related to viral etiologies. The clinicopathological spectrum of several disorders with viral etiologies has been altered after the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The author group could experience coherent histological alterations in PR after the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to investigate how the clinicopathological findings of PR were changed after the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: Patients (n = 11) diagnosed with PR based on the clinical manifestations and sk…
