[Syndrome of endogenous toxemia in complications of pancreonecrosis].

The authors have performed an investigation of the syndrome of endogenous intoxication in the following complications of pancreatonecrosis: pancreatogenous shock, fermentative and fibrinous-purulent peritonitis, parapancreatic infiltrate, abscesses of the pancreas and phlegmons of the retroperitoneal fat. The most pronounced toxicosis was observed in purulent processes in the pancreas, parapancreatic fat and abdominal cavity.

Retroperitoneal actinomycosis: a case report and review of the literature.

A 25-year-old Haitian man presented with a post-traumatic left retroperitoneal abscess. Culture of material obtained during surgical drainage yielded Actinomyces israelii. Retroperitoneal actinomycosis is a particularly unusual manifestation of infection with this organism. Because it may mimic subacute infections or malignant masses in terms of clinical findings, diagnosis of this entity may be difficult. Our diagnosis was based on the results of culture, and the patient responded to long-term penicillin therapy.

Retroperitoneal hematoma from a ruptured tubal pregnancy as an unusual cause of a pelvic mass. A case report.

Retroperitoneal hematoma can result from a ruptured tubal pregnancy and present as a pelvic mass. Such a case has not been described previously.

Approach to the abdominal retroperitoneum in patients with gynecologic malignancies.

The treatment of patients with gynecologic malignancies is still widely dependent on clinical staging. The introduction of the concept of surgical staging has significantly altered treatment plans. Better staging allows better treatment and more accurate comparison of survival and cure rates. We describe a surgical technique to expose the abdominal retroperitoneum. Sixteen patients have been explored by this technique. There has been no apparent difficulty in this procedure, even when performed on obese patients.

Spontaneous retroperitoneal hemorrhage from a ruptured hypernephroma.

The clinical presentation and roentgenographic findings of renal cell carcinoma have been consistently variable. These patients can appear w … le, we describe a case of hypernephroma in a cyst wall causing severe spontaneous hemorrhage in the retroperitoneal space resulting in a state of hypovolemic shock.

Vascular manifestations of von Recklinghausen's disease.

A casual relationship between von Recklinghausen's disease, or neurofibromatosis, and arteriolar abnormalities has been reported in the European literature. A patient was seen who had biopsy-proved neurofibromatosis and renovascular hypertension and retroperitoneal bleeding. An arteriographic study showed multiple small aneurysms throughout the coeliac axis, the superior mesenteric artery and in several small intrarenal vessels. Renal vein renin levels were elevated particularly in the right renal vein, supporting the diagnosis of renovascular hypertension. Both the aneurysms seen in angiograp

Retroperitoneal Continuous Local Antibiotic Perfusion for Refractory Pyogenic Vertebral Osteomyelitis: A Case Report.

Pyogenic vertebral osteomyelitis (PVO) is a prevalent infection in the elderly, frequently complicated by iliopsoas and epidural abscesses. Traditional treatments are often ineffective for refractory cases. In this report, a 76-year-old man with PVO, iliopsoas, and epidural abscess was unresponsive to antibiotics, presenting with severe lower back pain and functional impairments. A two-stage surgical intervention was implemented: anterior debridement, autogenous bone graft fixation, and novel application of retroperitoneal continuous local antibiotic perfusion (CLAP), followed by posterior fix

Inguinal neurectomy for nerve entrapment after open/laparoscopic hernia repair using retroperitoneal endoscopic approach.

BACKGROUND: Inguinal neuralgia after open and laparoscopic hernia, repair occurs in about 0.5% of treated patients. If the pain and the functional inability persist, it is possible that the genitofemoral nerve and ileoinguinal nerve are involved in entrapment, and surgical treatment is a possible option. This paper reports a personal endoscopic retroperitoneal approach for ileoinguinal and genitofemoral branches neurectomy. METHODS: A 12-mm trocar is inserted into the lower retroperitoneum and insufflated to create a work space. Neurectomy is performed under endoscopic guidance. RESULTS: Six

IgG4-related disease presenting with acute kidney injury and tubulointerstitial nephritis.

Immunoglobulin G-4 related disease (IgG4-RD) is an immune-mediated, inflammatory disease that often involves multiple organ systems. IgG4-RD can be classified according to the organs involved. Type 1 IgG4-RD is related to acute pancreatitis and sclerosing cholangitis. Disease manifestation is also seen in the retroperitoneal region, pelvic organs, and orbital space. Here we describe a rare case of IgG4-RD causing isolated acute kidney injury.
