Acceptability and feasibility of oral swabs for tuberculosis diagnosis in young children: a qualitative study from Uganda and Peru.

BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in young children, particularly in settings with limited diagnostic capacity. Oral swabs represent a promising alternative specimen type due to their ease of collection, but evidence on their acceptability and feasibility remains limited. METHODS: This qualitative sub-study was nested within the NOD-pedFEND diagnostic trial evaluating novel tests for pediatric TB. We conducted semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions with 81 participants across Uganda (n=57) and Peru (n=24), including caregivers (Ug

Overcoming HPV vaccine hesitancy: insights from a successful school-based vaccination campaign in the Saa health district of Cameroon.

BACKGROUND: Vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) represents a critical strategy in the global effort to eradicate cervical cancer. Nonetheless, the uptake of HPV vaccination in Cameroon has been slow, resulting in vaccine wastage during a period of constrained global supply. In the Saa health district, factors such as concerns about infertility, fears of COVID-19 infection, and restrictions on HPV awareness initiatives in Catholic churches and schools have been identified as contributors to vaccine hesitancy. This report outlines the observations from a successful impromptu HPV vacci

Measuring caregiver and student detection of treatment effects: Sensitivity to changes in frequency.

For a behavior-change goal to be both useful and socially valid, relevant stakeholders must detect the level change specified by the goal. To evaluate behavior change that is detectable by consumers, we examined the minimum reduction in aggression at which undergraduate students and caregivers identified a treatment effect. Participants viewed scripted video recordings depicting varying levels of aggression and recorded whether each video was taken from before or during treatment. Across groups, most participants selected a video as a treatment session if it showed a 70% or greater reduction i

Engaging citizens to conduct large-scale qualitative research: lessons learnt from a community-engaged research project on queer men's lived experiences of health in Singapore.

Introduction HIV science has made significant progress, but community engagement in some contexts remains suboptimal, with marginalized and key populations being left behind. Discriminatory policies, medical mistrust, stigma and a lack of resources remain key roadblocks. Citizen-led, community-engaged approaches hold promise in subverting power structures that reproduce such barriers and allow us to leverage community resources. Discussion We draw on our experience of a collaborative research project between the National University of Singapore and RainbowAsia, a community-based organization a

Evaluation of a piloted digital reproductive health registry in Jordan to improve mother and child health.

BACKGROUND: Primary data on antenatal care services in Jordan are stored in diverse systems among hospitals and Mother & Child Health (MCH) centers. The resulting information flow gaps between healthcare levels challenge the quality and continuity of MCH care. To close these data and care delivery gaps, a harmonized Reproductive Health Registry (hRHR) was designed and piloted to bring data in a consistent/digital/readily accessible format and enhance the current health information system. Our study evaluated the perceptions on the newly developed hRHR's improvement of the delivery of sexual an

Lessons learnt from daily oral PrEP delivery to inform national planning for PrEP ring introduction for women in low-income and middle-income countries: a qualitative inquiry of international stakeholders.

INTRODUCTION: Some African countries plan to introduce and scale-up new long-acting pre-exposure prophylaxis methods (LA-PrEP), like the monthly dapivirine vaginal ring (PrEP ring) and injectable cabotegravir. National costed implementation plans, roadmaps for successful product implementation, are often overlooked. International stakeholders engaged in oral PrEP planning, introduction and scale-up are an information resource of lessons learned to advise LA-PrEP planning. We consulted such international stakeholders and synthesised oral PrEP lessons to inform the development of a costed rollou
