Simulations and analysis of self-assembly of CdTe nanoparticles into wires and sheets.

Recent experiments have reported the self-assembly of TGA- and DMAET-stabilized CdTe nanoparticles (NPs) into wires and sheets, respectively, depending upon the stabilizer used. We develop a mesoscale model based on quantum mechanical calculations and perform Monte Carlo simulations of these NPs to elucidate the conditions under which these two structures will form. We show that consideration of NP shape, directional attraction, and electrostatic interactions is key to determining the anisotropy of the NP-NP interaction and final self-assembled structures.

Green and orange CdTe quantum dots as effective pH-sensitive fluorescent probes for dual simultaneous and independent detection of viruses.

One of the most highlighted and fastest moving interfaces of nanotechnology is the application of quantum dots (QDs) in biology. The unparalleled advantages of the size-tunable fluorescent emission and the simultaneous excitation at a single wavelength make QDs the great possibility for use in optical encoding detection. In this paper, we report that green and orange CdTe QDs as convenient, cheap, reversible, and effective pH-sensitive fluorescent probes could monitor the proton (H+) flux driven by ATP synthesis for dual simultaneous and independent detection of viruses on the basis of antibod

A novel density-tunable nanocomposites of CdTe quantum dots linked to dendrimer-tethered multi-wall carbon nanotubes.

A novel nanocomposite of CdTe-PAMAM-MWNT was synthesized by covalently linking CdTe quantum dots (QDs) onto highly water-soluble multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) functionalized with dendritic poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM). The IR, UV-vis and TEM methods has been used for the characterization of the composites. A facile method for controlling the density of QDs in the composite by simply changing the ratio of CdTe QDs/PAMAM-MWNT, as was verified by the TEM images. The experiments revealed that PAMAM and PAMAM-MWNT, once covalently linked with CdTe QDs, had remarkable effect on their fluorescence

Integrated Photoelectrochemical-SERS Platform Based on Plasmonic Metal-Semiconductor Heterostructures for Multidimensional Charge Transfer Analysis and Enhanced Patulin Detection.

Comprehending the charge transfer mechanism at the semiconductor interfaces is crucial for enhancing the electronic and optical performance of sensing devices. Yet, relying solely on single signal acquisition methods at the interface hinders a comprehensive understanding of the charge transfer under optical excitation. Herein, we present an integrated photoelectrochemical surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (PEC-SERS) platform based on quantum dots/metal-organic framework (CdTe/Yb-TCPP) nanocomposites for investigating the charge transfer mechanism under photoexcitation in multiple dimensions.

Novel "turn on-off" paper sensor based on nonionic conjugated polythiophene-coated CdTe QDs for efficient visual detection of cholinesterase activity.

An increasing number of patients are living with Alzheimer's disease (AD); thus, the need for a method to detect AD early and sensitively has become urgent, and the demand for an intelligent analytical platform is growing year by year. Abnormal levels of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) are known to be indicative of AD. In this work, a novel conjugated polythiophene (CP) compound was successfully combined with CdTe quantum dots (QDs) to improve their selectivity and sensitivity. The QDs successfully enabled the detection of low concentrations of AChE by turning on t

Synthesis of water-soluble Ni(II) complexes and their role in photo-induced electron transfer with MPA-CdTe quantum dots.

Photocatalytic water splitting using solar energy for hydrogen production offers a promising alternative form of storable and clean energy for the future. To design an artificial photosynthesis system that is cost-effective and scalable, earth abundant elements must be used to develop each of the components of the assembly. To develop artificial photosynthetic systems, we need to couple a catalyst for proton reduction to a photosensitizer and understand the mechanism of photo-induced electron transfer from the photosensitizer to the catalyst that serves as the fundamental step for photocatalys

Rapid detection of Shiga toxin type II using lateral flow immunochromatography test strips of colorimetry and fluorimetry.

Two types of lateral flow immunochromatographic test strips (LFITS) using gold nanoparticles and fluorescent CdTe quantum dots (QDs) as signal labels, respectively, were developed for Shiga toxin type II (STX2) assays. Under optimal conditions, the corresponding visual detection limits were 25 ng mL-1 and 5 ng mL-1, respectively. The test results of gold based LFITS can be recognized directly by the naked eye, whereas the visualized results of CdTe QDs based LFITS can be observed by the aid of a UV lamp. Both assays showed good specificity and stability. The inexpensive LFITS were promising fo

Polyoxometalates as promising enzyme mimics for the sensitive detection of hydrogen peroxide by fluorometric method.

Polyoxometalates (POMs) have been proven to possess intrinsic peroxidase-like activity. However, by far, most of POMs with intrinsic peroxidase-like activity are stable at acid aqueous. Herein, we firstly utilized Na10[α-SiW9O34] with the peroxidase-like property in basic pH condition to build a CdTe quantum dots (QDs)-based fluorometric method for detection of hydrogen peroxide. In the CdTe QDs stable pH value, Na10[α-SiW9O34] can catalyze the decomposition of H2O2 into·OH radicals that could efficiently quench the fluorescence of CdTe QDs. The limit of detection in this system were 3.8 nmol/
