OBJECTIVES: Chronic hepatitis C-infected patients who do not respond to nonstructural 5A inhibitor-containing regimens have few treatment options. Noradrenergic cell loss is well documented in Alzheimer's disease (AD). We have measured the tissue levels of catecholamines in an amyloid precursor protein-transgenic 'TgCRND8' mouse model of AD and found reductions in noradrenaline (NA) within hippocampus, temporoparietal and frontal cortices, and cerebellum. Exposure of immature rat cerebellar granule cell cultures to the type 4 metabotropic glutamate (mGlu4) receptor enhancer N-phenyl-7-(hydroxyimino)cyclopropa[b]chromen-1a-carboxamide (PHCCC) reduced [3H]thymidine incorporation.
