We treated 11 cases (52.7 ± 14.9 years, all male) with varicella zoster virus (VZV) meningitis and 437 cases with adult aseptic meningitis from 2004 to 2016. The incidence rate of adult VZV meningitis in the cases with aseptic meningitis was 2.5%. Herpes zoster infections are reported to have occurred frequently in summer and autumn. VZV meningitis also occurred frequently in the similar seasons, in our patients. PURPOSE: Blepharocheilodontic (BCD) syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant condition characterized by eyelid malformations, cleft lip/palate, and ectodermal dysplasia. The molecular basis of BCD syndrome remains unknown.

An overview of the approach to the surgical management of orbital trauma used within the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The University of Washington is presented. In particular this paper discusses our experiences with the use of transconjunctival incisions, a modified technique for the harvesting of cranial bone grafts, and the use of intra-operative C-T scanning. Also presented are the results of two studies performed on aspects of the management of orbital trauma within the Department.
