A total of 229 clinical isolates of Streptococcus pneumoniae recovered from 225 patients were serotyped and tested for susceptibility to penicillin G, ampicillin, mezlocillin, cefazolin, erythromycin, clindamycin, chloramphenicol, and sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim. A study of the outcome of conventional antibiotic treatment in 543 patients with acne was performed. All were treated initially with erythromycin 1 g/day and topical 5% benzoyl peroxide. We present the case of a 17-year-old male patient with Hodgkin's lymphoma (nodular sclerosis) in the mediastinum. During the postoperative period treatment with erythromycin was started and the patient developed progressive jaundice and cholestasis. Amoxycillin and clavulanic acid show good activity against Legionella pneumophila in vitro, and synergy has been observed between the two agents.
