AIMS: To assess the punctal apposition syndrome (PAS) and its response to lateral canthal tendon (LCT) repair.
METHODS: In this retrospective, interventional case series, five patients (seven symptomatic eyes) with PAS were managed. Lateral canthal tendon repair was performed in all seven eyes. The main outcome measure was correction of watery eye symptomatology.

OBJECTIVES: We sought to determine the prevalence, morphology, surgical methods and results of surgery for left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO) associated with atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD).
METHODS: Correction of AVSD was performed in 615 patients. Twenty-three (3.7%) patients with LVOTO were identified. Sixteen (70%) of them had partial and 7 (30%) had complete AVSD. PURPOSE: To report a case of pterygium excision-related infectious scleritis with late-onset intrascleral dissemination.
METHODS: Case report.
RESULTS: A 72-year-old female patient was referred for Stenotrophomonas maltophilia scleritis after undergoing pterygium excision 18 years earlier. Surgical debridement and a tectonic corneal patch graft, along with conjunctival flap, were performed to repair the scleral defect after treatment with fortified topical and systemic antibiotics. However, intrascleral dissemination of scleritis occurred 5 months after the initial episode.

Several autosomal recessive diseases are associated with apparent DNA repair defects in cell culture. It seemed likely that a defect in excision repair reported for ataxia telangiectasia cells might reflect a lack of apurinic endonuclease activity.
