Oxidised regenerated cellulose was introduced 60 years ago to control diffuse bleeding from large surfaces. Although considered safe and effective, foreign body reactions can mimic suspicious masses in several organs. We describe the third case, reported in PubMed, of an oxidised regenerated cellulose-based granuloma mimicking a suspicious ovarian tumour on MRI. A 76-year-old female, presented with a recurrent cough and haemoptysis after an aspiration of a 'grain de Valls'. Chest radiography and computed tomography demonstrated an atelectasis of the medial segment of the right middle pulmonary lobe. A population of the northern pine processionary moth (Thaumetopoea pinivora, TP) is present on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. We describe 10 eyes harboring metallic intraocular foreign bodies (IOFBs) for 9 to 46 years that had undergone diagnostic x-ray spectrometry to measure metal dissolution 9 years before this study.
