BACKGROUND: Oxidative stress parameters have been reported to be significantly higher than controls in diverse disorders of pigmentation but no such data seem to be extant for IGH.
OBJECTIVES: To verify whether heightened oxidative stress levels are seen in patients with IGH (compared with matched controls) and quantify the same in blood using appropriate biochemical markers. Further, an attempt to determine if there might be any correlation between the amount of oxidative stress and the severity of the disease.

OBJECTIVE: Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a rare autosomal dominant genetic disease with many manifestations, and it involves any organ. In this study, we report a TSC patient with new type skin lesions.
METHODS: A 7-month-old TSC boy with multiple cutaneous nodules was admitted in our hospital. We collected the clinical data of the patient. We performed biopsy of cutaneous nodules and whole-exome sequencing in both paraffin block tissue and blood samples.

Rhododendrol is a phenolic compound that shows a tyrosinase-dependent toxicity for melanocytes and occasionally induces a vitiligo-like skin depigmentation. The post-tyrosinase mechanisms determining melanocyte death or survival, however, are far from clear. Here, we find that rhododendrol treatment leads to a reduction in the levels of cellular glutathione but also induces a cellular antioxidant response that eventually increases glutathione levels. Ito hypomelanosis is a rare neurocutaneous condition. We report on four observations in infants aged between 8 and 20 months. They all presented with epilepsy, psychomotor delay, and diffuse hypomelanosis. The electroencephalograms showed diffuse irritative abnormalities. Brain imaging was normal in two infants and showed hemispheric atrophy in another case. Despite antiepileptic treatment and physical therapy, no significant progression was noted and all children continued to have drug-resistant epilepsy and psychomotor delay.
