Thrombin generation, bleeding and hemostasis in humans: Protocol for a scoping review of the literature.

INTRODUCTION: Hemostasis and bleeding are difficult to measure. Thrombin generation assays (TGAs) can measure both procoagulant and anticoagulant contributions to coagulation. TGAs might prove useful for the study of bleeding disorders. There has been much progress in TGA methodology over the past two decades, but its clinical significance is uncertain. We will undertake a scoping review of the literature to synthesize available information on the application of TGAs towards the study of bleeding and hemostasis, TGA methodologies being used and to summarize available literature on associations

Latent tuberculosis infection screening and treatment in congregate settings (TB FREE COREA): protocol for a prospective observational study in Korea.

INTRODUCTION: South Korea regards tuberculosis (TB) incidence in congregate settings as a serious problem. To this end, systematic latent TB infection (LTBI) diagnosis and treatment were provided to approximately 1.2 million individuals in high-risk congregate settings. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: We designed a prospective cohort study of individuals tested for LTBI, based on the data collected on all persons screened for LTBI as part of the 2017 congregate settings programme in South Korea. Four types of databases are kept: LTBI screening database (personal information and LTBI test results), nati

Developing evidence-based guidelines for describing potential benefits and harms within patient information leaflets/sheets (PILs) that inform and do not cause harm (PrinciPILs).

BACKGROUND: Variation in the way information about potential trial intervention benefits and harms is conveyed within patient information leaflets can cause avoidable information-induced ('nocebo') harm, research waste, and may be unethical. OBJECTIVES: 1. To develop stakeholder-informed principles to guide how to describe information about potential trial intervention benefits and harms within patient information leaflets. 2. To test whether using these principles are feasible for testing in trials that measure whether they improve recruitment and adverse event rates. 3. To develop and disse

Causes of mortality in humanitarian crises requiring coordinated response: a scoping review protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Mortality patterns in humanitarian crises are shaped by intersecting factors including violence, displacement, health system disruption and environmental shocks. While crude and under-five mortality rates are often tracked, less is known about specific causes of death across diverse crisis contexts. Existing guidance informing humanitarian response is largely informed by outdated evidence and does not account for demographic, epidemiological and geopolitical shifts over the past two decades. This review aims to synthesise available data on cause-specific mortality in humanitarian

Exploring tuberculosis physicians' preferences for AI explainability in China: a protocol for a discrete choice experiment.

INTRODUCTION: Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used in tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis, but its clinical adoption depends not only on accuracy but also on physicians' trust and understanding of AI outputs. Explainable AI (XAI) has been proposed to address this challenge, but limited evidence exists on which explanation features are most valued by physicians in TB diagnostic settings. Discrete choice experiments (DCEs) offer a structured method to elicit physicians' preferences and quantify trade-offs among explainability attributes. This protocol describes a DCE designed to examine TB

Effects of different surgical treatments on children with ankyloglossia: protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Ankyloglossia is a situation where the tongue tip cannot go beyond the mandibular incisor because the frenulum linguae is short. It could affect children's health by interfering with their ability to talk, breast feeding and dental development. The most effective measure to control ankyloglossia is the surgical method. However, which surgical procedure is the best one is still controversial. Thus, this protocol aims to assess the effectiveness of different surgical interventions in children with ankyloglossia. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Scienc

IgG4-related disease: features and treatment response in a multi-ethnic cohort in Singapore.

The progressive growth of today's digital world has made news spread exponentially faster on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Weibo. Unverified news is often disseminated in the form of multimedia content like text, picture, audio, or video. The dissemination of such false news deceives the public and leads to protests and creates troubles for the public and the government. Hence, it is essential to verify the authenticity of the news at an early stage before sharing it with the public. Earlier fake news detection (FND) approaches combined textual and visual features, but the

Early detection of lymphomas in Sjögren's syndrome by in situ hybridisation for kappa and lambda light chain mRNA in labial salivary glands.

Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disease characterised by a generalised lymphoproliferation. Patients have an increased risk of developing lymphomas which are usually of the type associated with mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT). Histological examination of the minor salivary glands of the lower lip is a common and useful diagnostic test for SS but has not been able to provide information with regard to potential malignant change. In this study, a sensitive in situ hybridisation technique for the detection of kappa and lambda immunoglobulin light-chain mRNA was applied to labial

Co-development of a Post-Acute Care Intervention for Frailty using Information and Communication technology (PACIFIC): a development process protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Hospitalisation is one of the most stressful life events for older adults, particularly for those who are pre-frail or frail. Multi-component community-based interventions have the potential to address the complex needs of older adults post-acute care admission. While some available interventions have been developed with end-user engagement, fully involving older people who are pre-frail or frail in the design of interventions has been less common. Multi-component community-based interventions that address the needs of older adults and their care partners with potential implement

Stakeholders' Understanding of European Medicine Agency's COVID-19 Vaccine Information Materials in EU and Regional Contexts.

The COVID-19 pandemic posed challenges to communicating accurate information about vaccines because of the spread of misinformation. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) tried to reassure the public by communicating early on about the development and approval of COVID-19 vaccines. The EMA surveyed patients/consumers, healthcare professional organizations, and individual stakeholders, both at the EU level and in an Italian regional context. The objectives of the study were to see if the EMA's core information materials were informative and well-understood and which communication channels were pr

Protocol for a multi-perspective exploration of technology requirements for home-based upper-limb tabletop functional task training with minimal supervision: a mixed-methods and qualitative descriptive study.

INTRODUCTION: Upper-limb (UL) impairment following stroke significantly limits independence in activities of daily living (ADLs). Although tabletop functional task-oriented training (FTOT) is a cornerstone of neurorehabilitation, both conventional therapist-led and technology-supported FTOT face limitations in consistency, supervision, progression and continuity across settings. The objectives are to characterise current clinical practices in UL tabletop FTOT and identify stroke survivor-caregiver dyads' needs, constraints and support requirements across clinical and home contexts to inform us

Embedding Equity, Transparency, and Impact Through Patient and Public Involvement: Insights From the HANDCLAP Study.

INTRODUCTION: Patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) in research refers to studies conducted with or by members of the public, rather than for them. The Health Inequalities Assessment Toolkit (HIAT) aims to integrate an intersectional equity perspective into research and considers how people with real-life experience can contribute to this process. The Guidance for Reporting Involvement of Patients and the Public (GRIPP2) is an international tool that standardises the reporting of PPIE in healthcare projects. There is growing interest in assessing the impact of public involvement

AI-assisted multimodal analysis of digital media-enabled intergenerational transmission of regional musical intangible cultural heritage: evidence from blind ballad artists' narrative singing in Jindongnan and the Taihang mountains.

Digital media has expanded the dissemination of regional musical intangible cultural heritage (ICH), but online visibility does not necessarily lead to intergenerational transmission. This study proposes an AI-assisted multimodal framework to examine the digital dissemination and transmission pathways of blind ballad artists' narrative singing traditions in Jindongnan and the Taihang Mountains. The dataset comprises 2,136 online videos, 184,572 interaction records, 412 youth questionnaires, and 36 field interviews. To avoid target leakage, normalized 30-day dissemination effectiveness was pred
